How do you keep your lips hydrated and glossy?

Recently I've been trying a new lip care routine. I use the LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask Intense Hydration with Vitamin C Berry  at night, then in the morning I like to use the DIOR Dior Addict Lip Sugar Scrub 0.12 oz/ 3.40 g  then apply the ITEM Beauty By Addison Rae Lip Quip Clean Moisturizing Lip Gloss Hey Ya'll or the fresh Sugar Hydrating Lip Balm Coconut or the LANEIGE Lip Glowy Balm Berry or the Dior Dior Addict Lip Glow 08 Ultra Pink. I like to change it up a lot because I love all of these products! What about you?

Re: How do you keep your lips hydrated and glossy?

@mangomaddy  I try to treat my lips the same way I treat the rest of my face: exfoliation, serum, moisturizer, and daytime sunscreen. Here are the products I use for each step.

Morning:

Spoiler

Lip serum (daily, applied to damp lips) - Glossier Bubblewrap for a boost of antioxidants. It's discontinued now, so I'm searching for a replacement while using up my last tube. I do have an unopened jar of Tatcha The Kissu Lip Mask ... I've used Kissu before and it was never moisturizing enough on its own for me, but it might work well as a serum since it does contain a couple of antioxidants and a peptide (plus emollients). If nothing else, it'll be a good way to use up that jar. Interestingly, Kissu is the only Tatcha product I've used that hasn't irritated my skin.

Moisturizer (daily, applied to damp lips) - Aquaphor Ointment. Not the version marketed as lip balm (though it's probably fine), just the plain ol' ointment. My lips need a petrolatum-based balm to stay moisturized for hours. Aquaphor also contains lanolin and panthenol, 2 good hydrators. It is by far the best lip balm I've ever used, and I don't need a thick layer of it to do the job.

Sunscreen (each day my face is exposed to sunlight) - Vanicream Lip Protectant Sunscreen SPF 30. It's not moisturizing enough on its own for me (contains no petrolatum), so I apply it over Aquaphor. It's the only SPF balm I like because it doesn't smell or taste like sunscreen.

Night:

Spoiler
Exfoliation (couple times a month) - Usually some variety of ColourPop Lippie Scrub, but sometimes I just use a wet terrycloth bamboo round (one of my reusable "cotton" rounds) instead. I do this just a couple times a month because lips have the thinnest skin on the face. It's easy to over-exfoliate that skin, which causes more dryness and potential irritation. If I was going to do it weekly, I'd keep exfoliation to just once a week. But I find my lips do best with less exfoliation than that.

Lip serum (nightly, applied to damp lips) - Glossier Bubblewrap. Will eventually start using Tatcha Kissu, unless I find a better product I can safely use as a serum on my lips.

Moisturizer (nightly, applied to damp lips) - Aquaphor Ointment. If I know my heat/ac will kick on and off all night, I'll apply a thicker layer than I do in the morning.

I don't count makeup as skincare. But in the daytime, I do often wear lipstick. I'm a lipstick addict, so I rotate through hundreds of them on a regular basis. If I'm going to wear a moisturizing tinted lip balm, I might skip daytime Aquaphor—but I still try to remember to use the Vanicream SPF balm. But I use Aquaphor under most lipsticks and lip glosses.

Hi @mangomaddy , we have similar taste 😊 I love LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask Intense Hydration with Vitamin C Vanilla  at nighttime. I always keep my fresh Sugar Mint Rush Freshening Lip Treatment .15 oz / 4.3 g  and my Dior Dior Addict Lip Glow 12 Rosewood in the purse for touch ups. The dior one adds a little bit of color to my lips, is a mlbb for me. The fresh mint one is really nice under the face mask 💕🥰

Re: How do you keep your lips hydrated and glossy?

@mangomaddy I always wear a lip balm underneath lipgloss or lipstick and change it up.

I switch between Laneige lip mask, Kiehl's avocado, Fresh Rose, Kopari, Patrick Ta, Tatcha, and Kosa.
