Blue Lipgloss

Can someone explain to me the appeal of blue or green tinted lipgloss? I feel like it always makes me look like I'm deoxygenated and sickly. Don't understand it. Thoughts?

Re: Blue Lipgloss

I had a favorite blue lip gloss that I wore all the time when I was younger. I still have a green shade that looks more like honey on. My skin tone seems to work with a variety of colors so I just wear what I like.

Re: Blue Lipgloss

@lkathrynd Different people like different things! Some of us might want to express our uniqueness . I personally like blue lipgloss since my lips are much darker than my skin tone, when I wear it my lips look purple and I donโ€™t look like a cadaver. Why do people wear purple lipstick? They donโ€™t want to wear the traditional red lipstick ...

Re: Blue Lipgloss

@keana1 Yeah exactly, lip coloring makes a difference too... I'm pale but I have violet undertones (not pink) so I look like a cadaver in those peach lipsticks and Earth tones everyone loves, but purple and even blue looks relatively normal on me by comparison.

Re: Blue Lipgloss

@fieldsofclover I just couldnโ€™t help myself from laughing when I read your reply!!! Iโ€™m exactly like you! I just canโ€™t wear neutral/coral lipsticks, they make me look so blah....and they really donโ€™t work with my skin tone at all and make me look like a cadaver...

Re: Blue Lipgloss

I agree with coloring making a difference. I have found that blue based reds make my teeth look more yellow than white because my skin has yellow and peach undertones. The blue based reds just draw out the yellow. I was shocked to discover that fire bright orange lipstick is what made my teeth look whiter! @fieldsofclover

Re: Blue Lipgloss

@mermadelove Yes!! Who cares if a blue-red lipstick makes your teeth look whiter, if it makes your skin look gray or sallow the rest of the time! ๐ŸŽจ

Re: Blue Lipgloss

@fieldsofclover well, you never know......some people may go for that ๐ŸงŸโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸงŸโ€โ™‚๏ธlook......

Re: Blue Lipgloss

Some people will only use hair color in natural colors, some people like bold/fantasy hair color. Some people will only use makeup and lipstick in "natural" colors, some people like bold/fantasy makeup color.

It's just the flip side of nudes and neutral shades... there are plenty of people who don't see much point in wearing makeup if it doesn't look like you're wearing any ๐Ÿคท

Re: Blue Lipgloss

@lkathrynd blue tint also makes teeth appear whiter.

Re: Blue Lipgloss

@lkathrynd,

I used to use a blue gloss all the time on top of a blue toned pink like the Smashbox Pout (this used to be my favorite lipstick)!  It brought out the cooler undertones in the lipstick.

Re: Blue Lipgloss

@lkathrynd I tend to love blue & green lipgloss/lipsticks because I have blue/teal hair and it matches. I also just like wearing bold colours sometimes. ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Blue Lipgloss

@SpaceLlama our hair currently matches!!! ๐Ÿ˜‚ My hair is also blue and teal right now. It matches 75% of my wardrobe!

Re: Blue Lipgloss

That's so cool, @mermadelove! Teal hair is very fitting with your mermaid personality and I'm sure it looks beautiful ๐Ÿ˜„

Re: Blue Lipgloss

@lkathrynd this is coming from someone with a lot of blue and green glosses and lippies๐Ÿ’–: they appeal to the mermaid in me! That being said, I rarely wear them on their own when they would definitely make you look hypoxemic! They are usually worn as part of a look with similar colors, to tie them altogether. Just my personal way of using. ๐Ÿ™‚

RE: Re: Blue Lipgloss

I use them on top of lipsticks and I really love the little flecks of blue and green color
