You have some great suggestions but I would like to throw Smashbox Always On matte liquid lipstick in BAWSE.  It's a great shade of red in a fantastic formula!

I love red lipstick! MAC Viva Glam I is a classic red, and works across a range of skin tones. NARS has some gorgeous reds, I am a personal fan of Shirley, which is part of the Audacious line.

I have am olive complexion. But in the winter when  fair and even throughout the rest of the year I really enjoy NARS Cruella!

Red lipstick is my favorite and I have tons. But those are definitely my absolute favorites! The EL is my perfect classic red, but also a bit pricey compared to other lipstick brands out there. While I haven't tried the reds specifically, some lipstick brands I like (other than the above) are BITE and NARS.
