  • what is the difference between Korean skin care and regular skin care brands ? Is it more geared for specific skin type or skin problem?  Any high quality Korean brands you would recommend for comb skin.   Toner vitamin c exfoliant retinal and moisturizer , hylrononic acid.  Can you mix both skin care brands ?

Re: Brands

@maccal2023  South Koreaโ€™s cosmetics regulations are different from the USโ€™s (assuming youโ€™re in the US). The European Union also has their own set of regulations. Non-prescription skincare products fall under these regulations for each country/region.

Example: here in the US, our cosmetics regulations are set and governed by the FDA. The FDA says American sunscreen makers canโ€™t use any UVA filters but avobenzone and zinc oxide. But in S. Korea and Europe, several more advanced UVA filters are allowed in sunscreens made there. Thatโ€™s one reason some folks prefer S. Korean or European sunscreens over American and Canadian sunscreens.

You can use products from anywhere in your skincare routine. Whatโ€™s more important than country of origin is the ingredients in your products: youโ€™ll need to make sure they wonโ€™t conflict with one another or irritate your skinโ€”just as youโ€™d check products made only in the US.

I use some products by COSRX, Abib, Round Lab, and others. Iโ€™m sure others can chime in with brand/product recommendations. ๐Ÿ™‚ I might come back later with suggestions. Do you have specific skincare goals? (What do you want products to do for your skin?)

Re: Brands

Thank you for this valuable information. Are the advanced UVA filters that are found in European and S Korean sunscreens ,would be better for the skin or safer ?

Re: Brands

If you are interested in an eye cream, I heavily recommend the Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum ๐Ÿ™‚ It has Gingseng Root Extract 10% and Retinal Liposome 2%. It helps with fine lines and wrinkles.

If youโ€™re interested in a hyaluronic acid serum, Iโ€™ve heard AMAZING things about the Torriden DIVE-IN Low Molecule Hyaluronic Acid Serum ๐Ÿ’• itโ€™s really popular so itโ€™s quite pricy though. Just keep an eye out for salesโ€”I ordered it for ~$23 on Yesstyle late April (still in transit).

I also really liked the LANEIGE Water Bank Hyaluronic Acid Serum. Iโ€™m pretty sure both of these are suitable for mature skin (take my reccomendations with a grain of salt because Iโ€™m quite young lol.)

I donโ€™t have any recommendations for retinals because Iโ€™m on tretinoin sadly. With cleansers, Iโ€™d say to go simple with your water based cleanser but invest somewhat in a good oil based oneโ€”itโ€™s important to get one that fully removes SPF and makeup.) I really like the Beauty of Joseon Gingseng Cleansing Oil, and Iโ€™ve heard good things about their cleansing balm! Both of these are fragrance and essential oil free ๐Ÿ™‚

My ride or die serum is the Purito unscented centella serum (they reformulated so I donโ€™t know the exact name of it)โ€”I have sensitive skin and cystic acne, so I really like centella. If you struggle with redness, sensitivity, or inflammation, I totally recommend it ๐Ÿ™‚ Iโ€™m offering it because it contains peptides. However, if you donโ€™t really struggle with that stuff, thereโ€™s probably a better serum with peptides for you lol.

Hope this helped you somewhat! ๐Ÿ’•
