Re: my foundation shade in Nars

Hi, @JessiJay93. I'd suggest using Sephora's Color IQ to help find concealer shade matches.

Here's the link: https://www.sephora.com/color-iq

If you do not have a Color IQ number yet, don't worry. You can search the brand you currently wear (that's sold at Sephora), select your formula & shade, and then click "match me." You'll then see a list of products that have the same Color IQ as the one you already use. You also have the option to adjust the shade (lighter or darker) and/or filter the results further.

Nars has four foundation formulas that have a Tahoe shade, and without knowing which specific one you use, I've listed the Color IQ number that corresponds to each one below. There you'll be able to see all of the face products that have the same Color IQ number as whichever Nars Tahoe formula you wear.

Color IQ #1Y11 (Nars Natural Radiant Longwear & Nars Sheer Glow): https://www.sephora.com/IQ/color/results.jsp?coloriq=true&shade_code=1Y11

Color IQ #3Y10 (Nars All Day Luminous Weightless): https://www.sephora.com/IQ/color/results.jsp?coloriq=true&shade_code=3Y10

Color IQ #3Y11 (Velvet Matte Stick): https://www.sephora.com/IQ/color/results.jsp?coloriq=true&shade_code=3Y11

Temptalia's Foundation Matrix is another site that works in a similar fashion. It's also a good place to go if a particular match isn't listed in the Color IQ system or if you wear a product that isn't sold at Sephora.

I'd highly recommend swatching shades in-store, though. That would honestly be the best way to find a match. After all, these online shade match sites are not perfect.

As for a contour product, what formula do you prefer - cream or powder? From what I've read, the rule of thumb is to pick a matte shade that's a couple shades darker than your foundation. Now, contouring isn't a part of my makeup routine. However, I've heard good things about the Fenty Beauty Match Stix Matte Skinsticks, the Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Contour Powder, and the KVD Shade + Light Face Contour Palette. Hopefully, someone with more contouring experience will respond with some more suggestions.

I hope this helps!
