Hey @rebeccaa93 ! Which tote bag did you get? I almost always carry a Lands’ End medium canvas tote, in addition to a crossbody purse. Not sure what kinds of products you want to put in your bag, but I’ll you what’s always in mine:
- Hair ties - I keep either a couple mini silk scrunchies (like Crown Affair The Silk Scrunchie No. 001 Set or Slip mini scrunchies) or a silk scarf in a plastic baggie, plus a few bobby pins.
- Hand cream - usually either Gold Bond Healing Hand Cream or Skinfix Eczema+ Ceramide Hand + Foot Relief Cream 3 fl oz / 90 ml.
- Hand sanitizer - I prefer to use a hypochlorous acid spray that’s far less drying (for me) than an alcohol sanitizer; I can also use it as a hydrating soothing facial mist if needed. I usually carry a mini bottle of SkinSmart, which costs considerably less than the very similar Tower 28 Beauty Mini SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray with Hypochlorous Acid 1 oz/ 30 mL. I do also sometimes carry a mini bottle of Purell or a Touchland Power Mist Hydrating Hand Sanitizer.
- Hand cleanup - sometimes I’m not trying to sanitize my hands, I just need to clean food residue or other gunk off ‘em while I’m on the go. Luna Daily The Mini Everywhere Spray-To-Wipe - With Prebiotics + Vitamins C&E, for Sensitive Skin 1.01 oz / 30 mL is very handy for this, though there may be less expensive options elsewhere. Makeup remover wipes are also good for this, particularly micellar water ones. So is a resealable pack of sanitizing wipes.
- Nail oil - aka “cuticle oil.” I’m not always good at reapplying it to my nails and the skin around ‘em throughout the day, but I still carry an oil pen (inside a snack-size plastic bag because I’m paranoid about the pen leaking). CND Solar Oil’s a good one. I normally carry a refillable Bliss Kiss pen and fill it with any oil I choose.
- Face mattefier - my nose area can become a grease puddle throughout the day. (The rest of my facial skin is mostly dry.) Sometimes I carry LH Cosmetics Blotting Powder or Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder to tame my oily zone as needed. For the LH Cosmetics powder, I also carry a flat puff for application. (I can apply Danessa’s balm powder with my fingers instead.) Usually that’s Beautyblender POWER POCKET PUFF™ Dual-Sided Powder Puff for Setting and Baking or a Real Techniques mini puff. I suppose ONE/SIZE by Patrick Starrr Precision Setting & Baking Kite Powder Puff Set or Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Soft Touch Setting Powder and Baking Puff Duo are 2 other options.
- Sunscreen - if I know I’ll be out and about longer than a couple hours, I carry a tube of Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen Invisible Broad Spectrum SPF 40 PA +++ and my Beautyblender Pocket Puff (I use the sponge side to reapply sunscreen over makeup).
- Small makeup bag - okay so, I don’t always carry this because I don’t always need to carry all the makeup I applied in the morning. But if you think you’ll want to do that (for touchups throughout the day), a small makeup bag’s a good idea to keep all your products together vs. moshing in your tote bag. Even if your makeup bag’s just a small canvas pouch, that’s fine; whatever helps you stay a bit organized.
- LED magnifying mirror - not just for makeup touchups or sunscreen reapplications; sometimes I need to see if an eyelash is floating around my irritated eyeball and try to coax/flush it outta there. I carry a fairly small rectangular mirror I bought from Amazon: it’s dimmable with 3 light modes and I love it. There are plenty of other options though.
There are other things I always carry, but in my purse instead of my tote bag: lip balm (I just use plain ol’ Aquaphor Ointment), a couple backup lipsticks, a non-LED mirror that’s smaller than the LED one I mentioned above.
