Makeup Brands Owners and Your Opinions

If a makeup brand has an owner who is controversial, racist, or supports something you hate, but makes amazing makeup, do you still buy it? Personally, I don't. I've been boycotting Kat Von D and a few other makeup companies that are known for this behavior, and I don't ever plan on supporting them.

This is a tough one. I still purchased from Deciem when Brandon went through his phase before he passed. I don’t agree with KVD’s decision to not vaccinate nor am I a fan of her in general, but her brow products are my favorite. This is how I look at it: Yes, they are the founders, faces and namesakes of their brands, but there are soooooooo many levels and people that truly make them who they are. I know one of KVD’s pro artists and she’s utterly amazing. She deserves to be supported. If our lives were put on blast, I’m sure someone would find something we said or did 20 years ago when we were mad, drunk or whatever and misconstrue it to be our absolute truth. I take everything with a grain of salt. If I like a product, I buy it.

This post makes me think about a conversation that I had the other day about brand owners who advertise their lines as "vegan" or "cruelty free" but one look at their social media pages clearly shows that they don't live such a lifestyle. I am not a vegan, but it kind of turns me off from their brands because I feel like they are another brand taking advantage of consumers who live a certain lifestyle that is profitable.

I don't support jerks. There is plenty of makeup out there that's amazing, you don't have to support someone who's platform you don't agree with.
