Makeovers for Those Over 60. Possible at Sephora?

I need advice and a refresh on makeup.  I would pay for a makeover at Sephora, but I did that for my 60th birthday, before the pandemic and the Sephora person went into a panic when she saw me.  She acted like her job was to make me look 20 again, even though I straight out told her that was not what I was trying for. She was trying to cover everything.  I felt badly that she was stuck with me and politely paid for hundreds of dollars worth of makeup and left wearing a mask of what other people thought I should look like.  Now, I am even older.  I don’t want to go to makeup counters at department stores.  I know I need to mix brands.  I also have sensitive skin and must have no scents whatsoever.  Advice?

@Talkfrommyheart , I would recommend contacting a professional Makeup Artist in your area. You could do a Google search or ask the stylist who does your hair for recommendations as both businesses are close related. Even check with a local spa or bridal salon for makeup artists recommendations. Sephora is great for buying products but they don’t have trained professional Makeup Artists and they do lean heavily to the very young and hot current trends which definitely has a place but doesn’t sound like what you are looking for. Best of luck!

I'm so sorry you had that experience @Talkfrommyheart. If you feel up to trying the makeup lesson service again, maybe consider using the "any special requests" feature and noting what you are looking for or hoping to gain from your time, and if there are certain features you want to play up (or conceal), identifying that in the section as well as using products that are sensitive skin friendly and without fragrance.

I echo @danielledanielle's recommendation for bringing in a photo or two of a look you like or resonate with. It doesn't have to be the identical look you're looking for if you are unable to find a 100% match, but if there's something close to what you are hoping to achieve, that could be helpful. You could also identify which parts of the look is not something for you.

I don't know about your local store, but some stores near me have more than one makeup artist available. If that is the case, you may wish to call the store before you book an appointment online and ask to speak with the manager (there's a prompt for a number to press when you call in but I don't know it off the top of my head). You can ask the manager who the manager would recommend for the lesson for your age and what you are looking for.

Aww, sorry to hear that, 😕 @Talkfrommyheart .

I would go in with inspo - pictures of what your looking for, or perhaps describe an aesthetic.  Also, consider doing feature focus vs a full look
