Gift Card Scam?

I bought a $50 gift card from CVS for my bestfriend a few months ago. When she tried to use it in store the cashier let her know there was no balance on it… she let me know and I contacted CVS customer service as the money had been taken from my account. CVS opened a case on the issue and let me know that the card had been activated and should have $50 on it. So it was to my surprise when I checked the balance on the card and it once again said zero. I’m not really sure what to do at this point because I definitely paid for this gift card and CVS told me they wouldn’t be able to do anything further.

It’s been over 60 days so I haven’t tried to dispute it
