Gift Card Complaint

My daughters both received $100 gift cards from Sephora for Christmas that were bought at Walgreens and my youngest daughter got a $25 gift card for her birthday. All 3 were bought at Walgreens and all three have a $0 balance on them. Sephora said, "sorry...not our fault" and Walgreens did an investigation and found that the funds were transferred to the cards. Called Sephora back and they said, "sorry...still not our fault." I wonder how much money Sephora has made off of this happening. I now have 3 gifts cards, with receipts of purchase, and 2 unhappy daughters who got to the register to buy goodies and had to put everything back. How is the right?
