Faulty giftcard

Was gifted a gift card from Sephora. When scratching to reveal card number and pin number, some numbers were scratched off. Went to a sephora store and they were unable to swipe. Called customer service and they said nothing they can do. Mind you the card has other numbers, is able to be swiped and scanned. Saw online its a common issue. Now I am out 100 dollars. Be careful when purchasing gift cards from Sephora
