Blackhead From Hell!

Hello, All!

Recommendations Please:

Earlier this year, the indestructible blackhead from hell arrived on my face; on my left cheek to be exact.

I don’t have a big problem with blackheads, except for the “normal / typical” ones on the nose. I can manage those with different methods when needed.

This particular one is driving me crazy; so annoying! I can see it immediately when I look in the mirror. Of course, it probably seems worse to me than what others can actually see (hopefully, hehee). But still!

I have sensitive skin, and I’ve tried several methods; some of which even left my cheek bruised!!! Even when I gently push it out with my fingers, I can still leave a little mark or bruise for days.

Any suggestions on products and / or how to get rid of it, hopefully permanently???

@LanieRose03 I totally agree about the BHA rec.  You could also try VERSED Find Clarity Purifying Mask.  It's a clay mask and has helped me 🙂

Re: Blackhead From Hell!

Have you tried using an extractor tool? It is much easier to push a blackhead out with an extractor versus fingers. It is easiest to push a blackhead out after a shower. You can regularly use a chemical exfoliator to keep pores clean. Also, oil cleansers work great to encourage blackheads to surface. Unfortunately, if the pore is too enlarged, you may need to continue to see a blackhead form in the same spot.

@risa0225 @LanieRose03 I second this! I have a pimple extractor that works magic for when my fingers can't push it out. They're super cheap on eBay. I've had mine for maybe 2 years now.

@risa0225 @Anonymous OMG I’ve tried those tools and they leave my face bruised! Ugh! *sad eyes*

Blackheads need salicylic acid (aka BHA). It's the only oil-soluble acid, and it can help clean pores from the inside out. Unfortunately, I can't really think of much at Sephora (or even Ulta) that I'd recommend...so many brands seem to mangle their BHA with mediocre formulas. Paula's Choice has an impressive collection of well-formulated BHAs, all without alcohol and fragrance, with a huge variety of strengths and formulations so anyone can find a fave.

Thank you, dear @RGbrown❣️ I use salicylic acid *sad frustrated pouting eyes* I love my routine of apricot scrub (with salicylic acid) and witch hazel; works great. But alas, I’m still at a loss with this one darn blackhead! I’ll definitely check out Paula’s Choice 😘

A wash off product isn't on your skin long enough to make much of a difference. pH matters as well, and many brands get it wrong. Definitely check out a leave-on product!
