Beauty Insider Points feels like a scam

So I’ve been a Sephora rewards member for awhile now, and attained Rouge status mid-last year. I have racked up points from the incentives as well as from purchases. The top tier rewards (750-2000) are sold out within seconds of the twice weekly drops. I know this because I’ve been trying to redeem my points for months now. Literally cannot even add to cart, item unavailable at 9:01am. It’s incredibly frustrating to be baited with “rewards” that we never actually have access to. Then it’s even more frustrating that the sold out rewards sit on the page all month (or longer sometimes). I know I can get $10 off a purchase, but the rewards items are usually worth much more than that. Really just would like Sephora to start matching their rewards programs offers to the amount of insiders and rouge members they actually have. It just feels like false advertising to me.

you’re so right I just made a post on the same exact thing, I have over 3000 points and I’m not interested on the little 100 point samples but everything I want is sold out within seconds! The point system at Ulta is so much better! I feel like I wanna stop shopping at Sephora altogether and just shop at Ulta , their return policy is way better too! And they have an amazing annual gift for their diamond members!

Re: Beauty Insider Points feels like a scam

I think you have me convinced to try switching to Ulta! I totally feel the same about the lower tier products, generally things I don’t or won’t use. There are some things I think I’ll have to keep buying at Sephora regardless bc Ulta doesn’t carry them, but I won’t be coming back for the rewards - it’s just a hassle. I just tried again and only 3 new items in the higher tier today - all gone again within seconds. I know that manufacturers are the ones who determine their promotion products - but if that’s the incentive to shop at this store for “exclusive” products and deals, then the reseller needs to be reasonable follow through with stocking those promos, or have a more exclusive rewards program including more deals/promos for rouge+ members, or equivalent cash redemption for what the higher tier items would retail for. If I cashed out all 1500 pts right now I could get a total of $30 off 3 separate transactions, but that barely covers tax on the higher priced items, and the products in most of the 1500 tier are usually worth way more than that imho. I also don’t want to have to buy a product to get a reward under 750. I get shipping is a cost, but I don’t feel I should have to buy something else to redeem any rewards!
