HELP!! TIPS FOR OILY HAIR

hey sooo I NEED HELP!! i have really oily and greasy hair and iโ€™ve tried a lot of stuff to fix it but it just wont stop getting greasy after one day of washing it. So does anybody have any tips for greasy and oily hair?!

Re: HELP!! TIPS FOR OILY HAIR

ok bestie, hear me out.

I had really greasy hair, and I mean a lot! I washed my hair every day, but it never got better. But one day I didnt, but even though nothing had changed, washing my hair once in every 2 days seemed to help it go down in oil. Maybe dont wash your hair every day!!!!!

This happened when I was about in 6th or 7th grade. If youโ€™re similar to age, then its normal!

Try dry shampoo

Re: HELP!! TIPS FOR OILY HAIR

@LXCYM  So this may seem counter-intuitive, but you might be stripping your scalp too much, and therefore it's oily as a sort of protective response. I found that using an oil shampoo made a HUGE difference to my hair. Sadly, shu uemura has discontinued their oil shampoo, but I see Bumble & Bumble has one that I'm going to try once I'm out of my shu uemura bottles. Bumble and bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Shampoo

In case you were wondering, the reason oil shampoos work is that oil binds to oil. An oil shampoo doesn't rely on surfactants in the same way as conventional shampoo. So the excess oil is taken from your hair, but your scalp isn't stripped bone dry. This also made my itchy scalp go away for the first time in my life - and I'm in my late 50s.

I do touch up if I need to by using dpHUE Mini Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Rinse 3 oz/ 88 mL in between shampoos. It's like a very light shampoo, just a tiny bit of suds. You could also try dry shampoo, again so you're not stripping your scalp.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Re: HELP!! TIPS FOR OILY HAIR

I would start off with using a good clarifying shampoo once a week or so; some shampoos donโ€™t have great surfactants or they can be too drying; a clarifying shampoo will pick up leftover product, oils, debris, etc. Itโ€™s amazing how much our hair pick up from the environment! The OUAI Detox Shampoo  is a nice one and so is Olaplex No. 4C Bond Maintenanceโ„ข Deep Clean Clarifying Shampoo 8.5 oz / 250 mL

I also recommend using a scalp oil such as the JVN Complete Pre-Wash Scalp & Hair Strengthening Treatment Oil 1.7 oz/ 50 mL to help make sure your scalp is getting the moisture and hydration needed; sometimes oil overproduction can occur when our skin (including the scalp) is dry or dehydrated or when thereโ€™s too much build up happening.

Which shampoo and conditioner are you currently using @LXCYM ?
