Help!! On a foundation choice

I need one that’s not cakey. But covers my fine lines wrinkles and large af pores. My skin is somewhat dry and I end up with scaly patches or flakes on my skin. I want my skin to look flawless, like a porcelain doll. Please help. Also do I need to use powder afterwards?? Thank you!$

RE: Help!! On a foundation choice

Hi I would recommend gorgio Armani luminous silk foundation. Or Fanty is also good for good less price.

RE: Help!! On a foundation choice

Stay away from Fenty for dry skin. Again, it’s trendy but not practical for dry skin. Too matte and drying. Better for normal to oily skin

I would recommend Becca ultimate coverage foundation

I would recommend Becca ultimate coverage foundation

RE: Help!! On a foundation choice

I love the Estée Lauder doble wear foundation with the Estée Lauder mattifier and the smother I mix them both and love how it turns out and it lastes all day for moisturizer I used Clinique dramatically different gel al also use the doble wear powder and the Estée Lauder setting spray it’s the only foundation that won’t look cakey on my face I have combination skin it’s pricey but it’s well worth it ..

RE: Help!! On a foundation choice

I don’t think you should use powder if your skin is dry. I love the smashbox for pores under foundation, I use 24K Gold by Peter Thomas Roth under foundation, and hourglass illusion foundation. It’s very hydrating!

RE: Help!! On a foundation choice

Yep stay away from powder and if you need it, I would highly recommend using a small amount of iT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores. It doesn’t contain talc and has real silk to help blur lines and give you an airbrushed appearance to your skin and has helpful skincare ingredients built in as well. Also a hydrating setting spray might be helpful. Such as Too Faced Hangover Rx or Make Up For Ever’s Mist & Fix setting spray. Both contain zero alcohol (alcohol is drying for your skin so stay away from UD sprays or anything that lists alcohol in their ingredient deck) and they are both available in mini sizes through Sephora for a good price.

I also have the same skin type. Dry/fine lines/wrinkles and to top it off I have freckles that I hate. I’ve tried most every foundation but I found cover FX works best for me. I moisturize prime and use the natural finish foundation. I love it!!!

RE: Help!! On a foundation choice

I personally love the rainforest of the sea foundation! I have similar skin products and found that this is really good at covering what I need without being cakey! If you have dry skin you would not need a powder unless you are looking for a matte finish in that case you might want to put a little on! Otherwise great product! *i also have sensitive skin and pretty big pores and I would suggest looking towards a great mask that would tighten them up! That’s what I did and is no longer an issue bud it did take a little time for them to tighten (Im still working on them but it has been 6 months and decreased a great amount!!) I would suggest looking at a L’Oréal red clay mask (depending on where you buy it it’s about $10-$14) and it was the mask that made the most difference in my opinion! I know this is not what the post is about but thought I’d mention it since I had pretty big pores and noticed foundations tended to highlight them instead of covering them. So the best way to help with that would be finding a great skincare routine to help improve the overall appearance! * I would also recommend for a concealer is rainforest of the sea, it is so nice on the skin and I love it! And for a primer I’m obsessed with the fenty beauty primer, it smells lovely not very tacky and does not drag foundation on the skin but rather help glide it! It’s absolutely perfect and I love it!! I hope this helps you!!

You should maybe try Makeup For Ever Ultra HD Foundation....

You should maybe try Makeup For Ever Ultra HD Foundation. It feels light on the skin and is buildable if you want more coverage. It leaves skin looking wonderful with a natural finish that really looks like real skin. If you want a foundation that gives you a nice glowing finish, I recommend BECCA Aqualuminus Foundation.

RE: Help!! On a foundation choice

Hello, I also have skin with large pores that gets dry and flaky. Adding exfoliation into my routine has helped a lot with making foundation in general look smoother. I would recommend Skinfood scrubs/face washes which you can buy from Ulta. 🙂

I really love too faced born this way. My skin is pretty dry but it always looks flawless. I find using a powder makes me look cakier though so I just powder under my eyes and use a setting spray for the rest of my face to help it stay all day. I for sure recommend using a moisturizer under the foundation it’ll help smooth over your skin and of course moisturize. Also exfoliating once a week or so with whatever exfoliant will help loads with the flaky problem

RE: Help!! On a foundation choice

I agree, Born this Way is awesome and really sits well in the skin

RE: Help!! On a foundation choice

Hello! I hope below will be some tips and tricks to help! I would start off with a moisturizer or a primer to help as the base before you apply foundation. What sounds like a great primer/moisturizer would be the Benefit Porefessional Face primer. It helps minimize the looks of pores and it is really nice, it doesn’t clog up your pours. Applying a primer will also help smooth out the pores and create a more smooth porcelain look affect. For your dry sky, a few foundations that might work the best for you are: Laura Mercia Flawless Fusion - $48 YSL All Hours Full Coverage Matte Foundation- $58 Fenty Beauty- Pro Filter Soft Matte - $34 My tip would be to be careful with Matte Foundations because since your skin tip is dry, it could make your skin look even drier. So that is where the Benefit Porefessional ($31) or a nice moisturizer would come in to help that. Just don’t apply to much or overuse the moisturizer or apply/use as you feel needed 🙂 With the foundation, my biggest recommendation would be to go to a Sephora store, get shade matched (it’s really easy takes a literal minute) and test and try the foundations out in the store and see what you like best! Liquid foundations seem to create more of that porcelain affect over powders. For the setting powder, I would highly recommend the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder- $38 I personally use this setting powder for my concealer and it makes it look flawless. A setting powder such as Laura will really help fill in lines and smooth things out and really make it look beautiful. You can also use the powder to set your foundation by lightly going over it with a big face brush. I do say a little goes a long way with the powder for me personally. I hope this helps you create the look you want to achieve! Have a great day 🙂 -Liz

RE: Help!! On a foundation choice

Hi, hope this helps somewhat. They've always said that your foundation will only look as good as your skin does. I hate lotion and would never moisturizer but no matter what foundation I put on I looked like a cake Lol it was so dry, flaky and everything showed up So I recently started using moisturizer on my face even though my face is combination I noticed that it really helped get rid of most flaky dry dead skin, my face isn't as oily and my foundation looks way better. I guess that's why makeup artist always do face mask etc. I have 2 large af pores on my nose and noticed they went down in size and they do say using cold water after washing your face is good because it helps minimize the size.

RE: Help!! On a foundation choice

You mentioned your skin is kinda dry but pores and fine lines are also a concern, so I’d recommend Too Faced Peach Perfect- natural matte finish. But it has peach oils and sweet fig cream to provide hydration but a soft matte look. Also the Primed and Peachy primer also from Too Faced will totally help with pores! It’s cooling to help shrink pore visibility! Hope this helps

RE: Help!! On a foundation choice

Fenty beauty has a really good foundation the pro filter I think that’s what it’s called
