Sol De Janeiro 71

*Ahem*

We need to talk about SDJ 71.

The other day I was out and about when I eavesdropped on a conversation that these girls were having. (They all smelt lovely and heavy on perfume) They started talking about perfume, and SDJ. They talked about 71, and how it smells like burnt cheese. They also said that a girl they know wears it, and no one can even go near her.

I personally have not smelled it yet, but I hope to soon. I hear SO many mixed reviews on it, and with all the trends and everything, I just need to know anything I can! 😂

There is NO hate in this thread. It’s just perfume! Let me know your thoughts on this scent, because I am genuinely so confused.

Re: Sol De Janeiro 71

Wowww! Just checked back on this thread after awhile, and I created the controversy xD. I did manage to go to Ulta and smell it. Personally, I hated it like I thought I would, but I kinda wish I did like it! It sounds so cozy and gives such fall vibes.

I did see some talk on SDJ 71 (rebranded after hours). I went to Sephora to smell it because I missed the original after hours, and I immediately bought it. It’s my new fave scent and I love the blue!!

Re: Sol De Janeiro 71

@ChickenGurlie It's very sweet and gourmand; it almost smells like caramel corn to me.

Re: Sol De Janeiro 71

On my preference I hate 71 it smells like burnt popcorn my that is my preference and I here mix reviews yo

Re: Sol De Janeiro 71

I have smelled 71 in store. I don’t plan on buying. For me, it smells SOOO sweet. Like wayyyyyy too sweet. I don’t know if I was also smelling other things around me as well but I don’t think so. I have smelled it multiple times. This is just my OP so if you don’t agree don’t hate on me but personally I think it is too sweet. If you want something like it I recommend 62. @lilypadstew

Re: Sol De Janeiro 71

I actually just finally finished my collection of all of the permanent line mists when I got 71 and the new 76 this past week! I do really like 71! I'm a big fan of sweet vanilla and gourmand fragrances, so it fits with that perfectly! It's sweet, warm, creamy, nutty, rich, yummy, cozy, and decadently delicious! I really pick up on the sweet and creamy salted caramel, warm and rich vanilla, and the nutty macadamia. If you like 62, but want something that's a more rich, deep, and decadently sweet scent then you may really enjoy 71. It's super warm and yummy,,, definitely a gourmand fragrance! I don't get any weird smells from it like burnt cheese or anything. It's definitely gourmand though, so if that's not your thing you probably won't like it. I also always have really loved their Coco Cabana 39 mist (it's tied for my top favorite along with this summer's Summer e Amor!) and never got anything weird or unpleasant smelling with that one either.

Re: Sol De Janeiro 71

@ChickenGurlie 71 is the same scent as the last year release after hours. It doesn’t smell that bad. It’s just not my favorite scent from them.

Re: Sol De Janeiro 71

I just wanted to let you know that 71 is not the same scent as last year's limited edition After Hours. 71 is a sweet and warm yummy gourmand scent that's been a part of their permanent line for some time. The one that is the repackaged After Hours that was just added to their permanent line is #Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 76 Perfume Mist 8.1 oz / 240 ml To me, the new 76 surprisingly smells incredibly similar to Flowerbomb!

Re: Sol De Janeiro 71

@shimmer412 @Yes, if you read the post below, I acknowledge that and let her know how I feel about the scent she is referring to.

Re: Sol De Janeiro 71

I'm so sorry, I somehow completely missed seeing that! I just wanted to make sure you didn't have them mixed up because that would really suck if you decided to order one thinking it was a different scent!

Re: Sol De Janeiro 71

@ChickenGurlie @Yes you are right. I have tried both and have owned both. It’s really personal preference on smell so even if they don’t like it doesn’t mean others won’t.
