What fragrance do you recommend with Oud?

and rose with Oud?

@classyzzzz Oud can be easy going or really challenging depending on where it's from. The Laotian and South Asian ouds tend to be more gentle and creamy whereas the Indian ouds can be very ferocious! So check where they're from. The really synthetic stuff can be very harsh and raspy, so if you're smelling something like that, you know it's not the real deal.

• TOM FORD Oud Wood Eau de Parfum Fragrance with Sandalwood & Pink Pepper is an introductory westernized oud, though it's not floral and skews "masculine".
• #Jo Malone London Velvet Rose & Oud Cologne Intense 3.4 oz/ 100 mL Spray # is another rose oud carried by Sephora. To be honest, I can't remember what it smells like but I find the Jo Malones very straightforward and they smell exactly like the name says
• Kilian made some really refined, wearable ouds. They're mostly discontinued except Musk Oud. It is still a favourite of mine and is a rose-oud.
• Ex Idolo's 33 is one of my favourite rose-ouds. I wasn't into it at first but it grew on me. The opening is a little harsh, like a bit of lemon pledge or wood varnish, but it mellows nicely and is decently priced.
• Mona di Orio's Oudh Osmanthus is one of my favourites. It's very lush and comforting, just a touch of the creaminess of oud but still very wearable.
• If you want the real deal, Dusita's Oudh Infini is where it's at but if you are new to niche it's a very challenging and difficult scent. It smells like a zoo but it's perfectly balanced with a velvety rose

Not at Sephora but this is a good oud.
