Today I got the most expensive perfume in my entire collection to date. It's Guerlain Gourmand Coquin and I picked it up from Saks Fifth Avenue for just over $276 for 75ml.
This perfume smells like dark chocolate and deep cherry cordials and rum. Hmmmmmmmmmm! Going to be wearing this the next several days and test out the sillage and longevity.
What's the most luxurious or expensive fragrance you own?
Samsara by Guerlain. I own the eau de perfume and recently invested in the perfume. What I worry about is the reformulation.
Ok, you win! WOW! That's expensive: 30 ml bottle of Slumberhouse's Rume for $500!
I had to look up "Rume". LOL. It's an alcoholic liquor distilled from fermented molasses or sugar cane.
I hope you can find something that comes close to that discontinued fragrance.
A less pricey dupe....Cheers!
Ooooh, that Guerlain sounds heavenly.
Because I'm horrifically detailed (there are spreadsheets), I can tell you that my most expensive perfume per ml is Clive Christian's No. 1 Twist Violet Parfum at $31.60 per ml. I only have 0.25ml of it because, at that price, I'm happy to sniff it out of the vial! Now, what I'm lusting after a full bottle of (and what would be my biggest one bottle spend) is Penhaligon's Portraits: Clandestine Clara (the peacock one, if you know the bottles). Rum and cinnamon? Yes, please!
What kind of ingredients must they be putting in No. 1 Twist Violet Parfum to warrant such a hefty price?? My goodness!!
If you like rum and chocolate notes you would love the Guerlain Gourmand Coquin. It lasts all day on my skin...sillage is about 4 feet during the first hour and then it becomes a close proximity scent after that. I wore it to work yesterday and when I came into work this morning I could smell some around my workspace!!
The drydown is the most pleasant milk chocolate-vanilla! Now I'm interested in sampling Guerlain's Spiritueuse Double Vanilla.
I'm very curious about Penhaligon Perfumes. I've seen some bottles at TJ Maxx. Next time I see one, I will pick it up. Clandestine Clara sounds wonderful!!
@AnonymousOhhhhh if we are doing samples then my most expensive sample is probably Roja Dove's Diaghilev which cost $18/0.7ml. I have spent a really sad amount of money on these tiny vials lol.
Diambra, did you pick that up from Luckyscent?? It sounds positively exotic!!
Fragrantica rates that perfume very highly. I'm curious if you pick up the Civet note??
My fave sample from Luckyscent that I've ever tried is Osmanthus Interdite. It has tea and mimosa notes. Oddly, I never picked up the 100ml size for $160 because it was too expensive. Then I blind bought the Gourmand Coquin!!
@MermaidShimmer If you're asking about the Roja Dove, yes, that was purchased through Luckyscent. The animalistic/oakmoss base is core part of this perfume but it never moves into offensive, skanky territory, at least not on my skin. Luminous and beautiful. Also, a blind buy - that's brave!!
Well my answer sounds ridiculously cheap compared to $275 for 75 mL, but since you asked ...
Juliette Has a Gun Lady Vengeance, $100 for 1.7 mL. But here's the crazy part: it smells awful. I originally got it as a freebie sample with an order I bought from Sephora, and I was hesitant to even try it out, but for as horrible as it smells in the bottle, it interacts wonderfully with my body chemistry and smells good once I put it on!
Wow! This perfume (Lady Vengeance) packs a punch! I just tried the sample on both my wrists. It has been 1/2 hour and the initial notes are still going strong...no dry down yet. I'm getting a very grassy vibe to this, with some peppery florals. This fragrance is well named. Not a delicate perfume in any way!!
========
Ok, Update: Lady Vengeance has now been on my wrists for a full hour and a half. The scent has morphed into a beautiful limey/camphoric perfume. I am sniffing my wrists while I work at my desk. Nice!!
LOL!!! You're a lucky one! I actually picked up the JHAG sampler during the VIB sale and haven't tried any of them on except for Not a Perfume and MMMM yet. I'm going to try a whiff of Lady Vengeance and see how it fares on my skin. You've got me curious!! Haha!
I haven't tried any of the Bond No. 9 perfumes but I know they're en vogue. I just looked up the notes in the Brooklyn perfume. It sounds unique! Juniper berries are fairly unusual in a perfume but my parents used to have juniper shrubs in my childhood home and I always loved their fragrance. What are the notes that most appeal to you in this perfume?
Probably my fragrances from Frederic Malle. I quite like the house.
I just looked up his fragrances...they sure are expensive. I don't want to sample one and then fall in love with it because this line costs a pretty penny! LOL!
@MermaidShimmer The travel sized Angeliques Sous La Pluie is the same price as a non-private blend Tom Ford 🙂 It's an overlooked scent in the line. Unisex, sparkling and very chic.
