What fragrance did you wear or would you wear to your
1. I was too young and not into fragrance when I graduated. Today I think I'd go for CdG's Original EDP.
2. Malle's Une Fleur de Cassie. There's an innocence to it, but it's not at all pretty or girlish.
3. I landed my dream job coincidentally on Valentine's Day which is appropriate because I ❤️ my employer. So on my job anniversary, it's full on pretty V-day roses for me, Serge Luten's Sa Majeste La Rose.
4. I am going to try to go bigger ever five years. If I make it to 60, this being a very important year in Chinese culture, I want to be doused in some kind of stinking vintage leather chypre.
Currently Gabrielle by Chanel is the fragrance I would choose for any special occasion. I find Gabrielle to be elegant, feminine and charming and certainly worthy of being worn to grand events. Sillage is fairly low, so in a crowd you dont run the risk of being loud and offensive with your fragrance. (I have been to a gathering where a woman wore Flowerbomb with a very heavy hand and basically it was overpowering and sickening.)
In high school I wore a bodyspray by Gap called Heaven (?), probably wore it for graduation. I wore Chanel Chance for my wedding and received Kenneth Cole New York Woman on my honeymoon.
OOH MY GOSH!! @elisssabeth
Heaven from the Gap 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃 Didn't it come in a purplish container?! No wait...was there one called Dream?! I remember loving it in 7th/8th grade lol
Heaven was a pale green and I think Dream was blue or purple. 🙂 It makes me smile thinking about it now.
Hmmm... i dont think i have any particular scents/brand that i bought for certain occasions. But the one that i always remember (i dont own it though) is Chanel No 5. When i was a little girl, on special occasion, my mom used to put it on me. I used to admire the bottle sitting pretty in her wardrobes. So yes, lots of memories with that one.
@pocketvenus I’m a bit embarrassed to admit that a JLo fragrance (I think it was Miami Nights) was my first real love as far as fragrance is concerned. I was a teenager (ya know the lost and confused kind :P) when I loved this perfume but I’d like to think of myself as having outgrown all that.
Now my taste has matured as I have with age and I tend to gravitate towards earthy and woody scents like “Oddity” by Rag and Bone. Occasionally I’ll have a hankering for a floral scent that can be satiated by Jo Malone cologne.
@trishavt, don’t be embarrassed! One of my favourite perfumes when I was young was Gwen Stefani’s LAMB. It’s too brash for me to wear now but it was fun while I could pull it off 😛
@Vmaster, for all of them? Would these be the closest to your signature scent?...
@pocketvenus Yes, they would be closest to a signature scent but more the Gyan and less the Aventus because too many people wear Aventus, which in my eyes, defeats the purpose of a signature scent.
As far as formal affairs are concerened, Gyan, Aventus and New York Intense come to mind. Yes, New York Intense is a new favorite.
@Vmaster, wow, you are getting great millage out of the Perfume Guide!
@pocketvenus Indeed.
There is a reason why my signature on basenotes reads "Veni, Vici, Ego Emit". That is Latin for "I came, I saw, I purchased". We all have our weaknesses.
@Vmaster, glad there is BIC where we can all enable commiserate with each other 😂
On my 16th birthday, my boyfriend gave me a bottle of Oscar by Oscar de la Renta. This was my first high end perfume, and I treasured it. I wore it on my graduation day, and also the day I brought my baby home from the hospital. I always have a bottle of it in my collection. It is still one of my favorite scents. The memories I have from my youth created a sentimental bond to Oscar, as well.
@angel7594, I definitely have emotional ties to fragrances from when I was younger too. It's nice to have one special scent like that 🙂
Fun poll @pocketvenus! don't have answers for all categories, but def some kind of funny scent memories:
I wore Mugler Angel for years, until I was pregnant with my first, then I couldn't stand it. I haven't worn it since.
The only time before then that I deviated from my Angel fixation was my wedding. I fell in love with a Jimmy Choo scent that I subsequently forgot to take to the hotel where I was getting ready, so I didn't event get to wear it 😅
I wore YSL Black Opium to the hospital when my second daughter was born. The L&D nurse was obsessed with it...
Nurse: I hope this isn't inappropriate, but you smell amazing! What perfume are you wearing?
Me: (in labor) YSL Black Opium. And if someone's telling me I smell amazing right now, then it's clearly a keeper!
Not to bring the mood down, I wore Chanel Coco Mademoiselle to my S/O funeral when he passed away. I can't stand the smell of it now - it's luckily not a scent I encounter often but on the occasions that I do it either makes me want to throw up or burst into tears. A scent can evoke a lot of emotion.
I am so sorry for your loss, @GG84. As @RachFace2921@RachFace2921 wrote, I also hope that there are some scents in your life that bring you happier memories of your S/O. ❤️
Thank you @RachFace2921
I do have a Jo Malone fragrance I hold near and dear ❤🖤 His signature cologne I still have the half used bottle. I spray it occasionally if I'm feeling blue.
