Eyebrows during chemo

Getting ready to start chemo and was told i would lose my eyelashes and eyebrows. I have never touched my eyebrows. Can anyone recommend a product to draw eyebrows? Do stencils work? Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Eyebrows during chemo

Have you considered getting your eyebrows tattooed? I too went through chemo in 2014 and I remember trying to create brows. Epic fail. During a hair appointment, I mentioned my dilemma to my beautician and she recommended permanent makeup. She had her eyebrows permanently applied and they looked really natural. Needless to say I made an appointment and soon after had my eyebrows tattooed. I had them done March 2015 and they still look good.

Yes. Stencils work. Been thru 6 months of chemo. As an Indian women , completely lost my brows and lashes. Been drawing in and stencils got me started:)

RE: Eyebrows during chemo

My mom just finished chemo and ABH brow wiz was her best friend! She's not a makeup person so I did a quick tutorial with her the first time and it's so easy to use she was a pro in no time! She likes it so much she plans to keep using it even after her brows grow back! I wish you all the best and hope that your treatments go well! Stay strong!

If microblading is an option I would highly recommend it. My friend did it right before chemo and said it really helped her confidence during such a difficult time. If not some Anastasia BH stencils and a brow wiz should do the trick. The pencil would give a softer look. Also I sent my friend Lemon Verbena tea [aka as Verviene tea] and she said it worked wonders for nausea.

I am very sorry to hear about what you are going through. I'll be sure to keep you in my thoughts and prayers! For the most natural effect I would look into a brow pomade with some powder. Before microblading I would use 2 different shades of pomade and 1-2 shades of powder to create natural arches. You can use a stencil to help you with the arch but stencils may not always fit your face shape. Freehanding the brows or looking into brow mapping would be another alternative. Best of luck!

RE: Eyebrows during chemo

Hi Mags! I agree with Titan. The best product for creating the look of hair on skin is definitely a pomade style - like dipbrow or ka-brow! With a little practice the finished result will look a lot more natural than using a pencil. Don't be discouraged if you don't perfect the application on your first try. It took me a few times to really find my groove. You'll also need a good brush. I'd skip the stencil and instead learn about brow mapping. This technique helps you ensure symmetry and keeps your brow look flattering to your face shape and bone structure. If you're up for it... Sephora or Sephora inside JCPENNEY both offer free services to teach brows. Best of luck and big hugs! ❤️ -Sara

@mags1018 Have you ever considered microblading? I mean if your brows don't come back? I have hardly anything for my brows - I plucked back in high school and college and they never really grew back afterwards. And now that I'm getting older they're getting even more sparse and white besides. I first heard about the process here and it's basically tattooing, but actually tattooing "hairs."  I looked up a place here in Boston with a good reputation and the photos of clients were amazing. Really natural looking. I would seriously consider it but it's pricey. This place was $700. But if you have the extra cash, you might keep it in mind if you need it

Re: Eyebrows during chemo

Hi, @mags1018!   I no longer have eyelashes or eyebrows.  I don't use stencils.  They are too awkward to use and I was having to combine stencils to get the right shape.  Therefore, I free-hand my eyebrows; it's much easier.  If you need help, study pictures of eyebrows to see where they are located on the face.  This helped me a lot.

I use Benefit Kabrow or Anastasia Dipbrow.  I have both and like both.  I prefer these types of brow products over pencils.  After I draw on my eyebrows, I use Anastasia Brow Powder.  I like the look it gives.  I used to use Makeup Forever Brow Gel, but it is wasteful and messy because it comes in a tube.  I do not recommend this product.

There is a learning curve--don't get frustrated!  Remember, you're eyebrows are sisters, not twins.  As long as they look similar or close enough, you're good to go--symmetry is just a dream!

Re: Eyebrows during chemo

@mags1018 I'm very sorry to hear that you will have to go through this treatment.

Benefit has several great eyebrow products and there will be some sets on sale next week for $17. I will try to find the post with the pictures of next week's sale and tag you in it 🙂

Best of luck to you ❤️
