dry skin

Hi. I’m f(17) and I have really bad dry skin. Like I’ve tried using Peter Thomas Roth water drench and it doesn’t work. I also tried CreVe rough and bumpy skin and it also doesn’t work. I don’t try to use actives a lot. I double cleanse with innisfree and creve and I have I use 0.0025 tretionod ( doctor given) other than that i don’t use many peeling actives. Can someone help??

Make sure you’re using the tretinoin on dry skin. If you use on damp skin it makes the tret even more potent which can lead to negative side effects like redness, drying, peeling. Talk to your physician about using it every other day or every three days (only your provider will know how often you need to use it for your condition!)

And like @makeitup305 stated, keep other actives (I.e. salicylic, glycolic), out of your skincare unless prescribed/recommended by your physician.

I recommend Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream. It’s affordable, effective, and extremely moisturizing without being greasy.

As far as Sephora products go I love Kiehl's Since 1851 Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Face Mask with 10.5% Squalane 3.4 oz/ 100 mL

as a nighttime mask.

and

Drunk Elephant Lala Retro™ Nourishing Whipped Refillable Moisturizer

during the day.

Best of luck!

Re: dry skin

@asterin112 tretinoin is probably making your skin extra dry. Hyaluronic acid on wet skin should help bind moisture down. You can try the The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Hydrating Face Serum or the Ordinary one. Both are affordable so it's not big risk. You probably need something richer than the PTR, maybe the Skinfix Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream Refillable Barrier Moisturizer with Ceramides . It's very moisturizing. The Cerave Rough and Bumpy skin has salicylic acid so it might be drying you out if you're pairing it with the tretinoin. I would go for the Cerave Moisturizing Skin. You could also try slugging, which is applying a thin layer of Vaseline or Aquafor on top of your skincare (on wet skin or moisturizer) before you go to bed and then rinsing it off in the morning.
