Silicone concealers?

Hi everyone! I seen a tiktok saying the reason I have dry patches on my skin after taking my makeup off is because I’m not using all water or all silicone based products… After I watched that video I ran to  check the ingredients of the products I was using and I noticed my foundation (haus labs) is silicone based and my concealer (kosas) which I loveeee is water based…. I realized I had to choose between the two and it’s always going to be haus labs for me! Does anyone have any silicone based concealer recommendations ??? Thank you! 🫶🏼

Re: Silicone concealers?

Hi @krisxx0! Mixing water and silicone based products can sometimes make your makeup look patchy WHILE you’re wearing it because their chemistries aren’t compatible with each other. If you’re patchy AFTER you take it off, it might be worth looking into your skincare routine. Makeup can be quite drying and without a good routine in place to restore moisture, it can wind up dry and flakey. Do you have a routine in place?

If you still want to replace your concealer, looking at Haus Labs would be a good start. Companies generally R&D their products to work well together.

Hey @JoSometimes 🫶🏼 so skincare is hard for me! I have realllly dry skin and rosacea so I’m constantly going through it. Right now I’m using youth to the people deep moisture cream which is nice but not exactly hydrating enough 😩 so maybe that’s where I am going wrong, it’s just so hard for me with trial and error cause once my skin reacts it takes about a week for it to go back to normal

Re: Silicone concealers?

@krisxx0 I have have dry, sensitive skin too (eczema for me) so I know  what that’s like. Here’s a thread specifically for those of us “blessed” with sensitive What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

Here’s my basic skincare routine. There are a few things that I add to take care of specific concerns, but the rest of this could make a starting point for more research if you need.

Cleanser: The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser 5 oz/ 150 mL  or Byoma Creamy Jelly Cleanser

Serum/Rescue: Tower 28 Beauty SOS Intensive Redness Relief Serum with Hypochlorous Acid 2 oz / 59 mL  or Tower 28 Beauty SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray with Hypochlorous Acid 4 oz/ 120 mL  (spray is good if your skin is really irritated and doesn’t want to be touched) and The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL

Moisturizer: SEPHORA COLLECTION All Day Hyaluronic Acid Hydrator Moisturizer and Etude House SoonJung 5-Panthensoside Cica Balm or Skinfix Eczema+ Dermatitis Face Balm 0.48 oz/ 13.5 mL  Since you have one already that your skin likes, you could keep that one.

Sunscreen: Clarins Dry Touch Facial Sunscreen SPF 50  or COSRX Soothing Aloe Sun Cream
