Moisturizer recommendations

Hey! I’m currently looking for a new moisturizer for dry skin. I currently use the first aid beauty repair cream but recently it has not been doing the best for my skin. I recently was put on tretinoin be my dermatologist, so my skin has been extra dry and irritated lately. For more context I also use the anua 77% toner, the merit instant glow serum, and the eucerin sun screen. I’m also 22 years old. Does anyone have any recommendations for a thick moisturizer? Thank you!

Re: Moisturizer recommendations

Hey @richelle1502 ! Have you tried applying the FAB Ultra Repair Cream to your skin while it’s damp (to help seal in hydration instead of dryness), waiting for that to settle in (so your skin’s not damp anymore), and then applying tretinoin over it? Tretinoin will still work that way; FAB’s cream won’t stop it from penetrating your skin. Instead, it can buffer some of that tret irritation. Plus, your skin will already be moisturized before tretinoin joins the party.

That buffering technique can work with pretty much any moisturizer that doesn’t contain petrolatum or mineral oil, the 2 most occlusive skincare ingredients (aside from hydrocolloid patches). I mean, even petrolatum won’t stop 100% of something from getting into your skin, but it can definitely interfere a lot.

If you’d rather apply tretinoin before moisturizer, consider a moisturizer that contains petrolatum. Perhaps CeraVe Moisturizing Cream or Vanicream Moisturizing Cream. Or try an Aveeno body lotion (yes, you can use it on your face) like Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion, Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream, or Skin Relief Intense Moisture Repair Cream. My mostly-dry combo skin is quite reactive/inflammation-prone, and I sometimes use Aveeno Skin Relief or Eczema Therapy lotions/creams for extra moisturization and the magic of skin soothing oats.

Re: Moisturizer recommendations

I have very dry and easily irritated skin so I know what this feels like, it took me forever to find a product that worked for me. But the moisturizers I use are the Cerave moisturizer and sometimes the Laneige water bank moisturizer! And 1-2 times a week I use the summer fridays jet lag mask and the next morning my skin is so soft! Hope this helps!

@richelle1502 use a product with Hyaluronic Acid in it.  Wait 20 minutes after you put your tretinoin on to apply it or any other skincare product.  Try something like Biossance Omega Repair Deep Hydration Moisturizer with Ceramides and Hyaluronic Acid + Squalane 3 oz / 100 mL
