Foundational Seperating?

I have pretty dry skin, and I notice that my foundation tends to seperate and doesnt always look good.

These are the products I use:

Skincare - Rhode Milk Toner, COSRX Snail Mucin Serum, Rhode Peptide Glaze & Rhode Barrier Restore Cream.

Makeup: Elf Power Grip Primer (the green one),  Estee Lauder HydraResuce Foundation, Tarte Concealer, UD Setting Spray and/or Elf Power Grip Setting Spray.

I usually blend with a makeup sponge. Occasionally I’ll use the Estee Lauder Water Glow Primer instead of Elf. Anyone have tips on what I should do/change in my routine to help my foundation not separate? Ive had a hard time finding a foundation I really like (I loved the Fenty Hydrating one before it was discontinued). In addition to the Estee Lauder one, I’ve tried TF Born This Way, Haus Labs and Nars but wasnt a big fan of them.

Re: Foundational Seperating?

@aliciaaeyeare you using products for your skin type?  Sometimes it could happen if we apply too much product, apply it when our skin isn’t hydrated, we haven’t exfoliated our skin, or because of the oils in our skincare products.

Re: Foundational Seperating?

Usually if something is separating @aliciaaeye , there's a mix between an oil base and a water base, or you've applied to much to an area.  Also, if your skin is dry and it's flaking, try a gentle exfoliant.  For example, if I use The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Oil Control Serum and my Fenty Skin Hydra Vizor Broad Spectrum Mineral Sunscreen Spf 30 Moisturizer together, it'll separate, so I usually apply the niacinamide formula, do other skin care steps while it dries down and when I apply my base I gently press into it ..too much rubbing causes piling.

Or, in the case of too much product, if I have too much foundation on my smile lines, it'll separate, same for nose folds.  I use a silicone base, and use very little product
