Hello!! I have dry skin!!! And nothing is working, have any recommendations??

Re: Dry skin

Plz exfoliating your skin and apply the hyloronic acid cream and lotion

Re: Dry skin

Howdy! I use the Tatcha moisturizer and it really helps.😃💪❤️

Have a great day! May god bless byeee 🙏🙂

Re: Dry skin

I recommend the Eucerin Aquaphor Skin Balm! Especially if you have very dry skin, thats irritated and cracked. It's soothing qualities is a lifesaver. Check it out!

Re: Dry skin

@UnravelBeauty  You should remove that link to Eucerin’s site before a mod or admin sees it. We’re not allowed to link to sites outside of Sephora. I personally LOVE plain ol’ Aquaphor Ointment (seriously, I’ve raved about it plenty here on BIC for a few years now), but I won’t link directly to the product page.

Are you an employee or affiliate of Eucerin? Asking because I notice all of your posts are only about Eucerin products, with links to their site. If you’re a Eucerin employee or affiliate, you should disclose that in all your posts about Eucerin.

Re: Dry skin

try innisfree Green Tea Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Moisturizer 1.7 oz / 50 mL - noticed my skin overall stays hydrated for a long time, and does not get as dry after washing my face as otherwise

Re: Dry skin

Hi @SerenaTra ! A few questions for you:

  1. What specific issue(s) are you trying to solve that nothing’s working on? Is it just dry flaky skin? Or is there another issue (redness, acne, hyperpigmentation, etc.)?

  2. What’s your current skincare routine (brands + product names), from cleanser to sunscreen?

  3. Is there a price range you wanna stay within?

Your answers to those 3 questions will help me make recommendations. 🙂

Re: Dry skin

@SerenaTra  Hmm, Lala Retro’s actually a good moisturizer. If your skin’s still getting very dry throughout the day, then you may need a more occlusive (water loss preventing) moisturizer—perhaps something that contains petrolatum, the most occlusive skincare ingredient available. A good option is CeraVe Moisturizing Cream. You can also use a petrolatum-based balm as a moisturizer on either your whole face or just the areas that are driest; consider CeraVe Healing Ointment or Aquaphor Ointment. (If you’re sensitive or allergic to lanolin, avoid Aquaphor.) Plain ol’ Vaseline would also work, though it may feel a bit greasier than the other 2 balms.

A few other tips to consider:

  • Change your cleanser - you didn’t mention which one you use, but you want one that doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight, dry, or “squeaky clean.” Also, if you always use an exfoliating cleanser (one that contains AHA, BHA/salicylic acid, or physical scrubby bits), you may be over-exfoliating your skin and breaking your moisture barrier. After removing makeup as a first cleanse, I use either Abib Heartleaf Stone (available at some retailers that sell Korean products) or e.l.f. Pure Skin Cleanser as a second cleanse. Both of those are gentle cleansers that never leave my skin feeling stripped. The Abib cleanser lathers up but the e.l.f. cleanser doesn’t. Many people love CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser, and I used to always use the solid bar version (CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser Bar) which I still use on my body.

  • Don’t over-exfoliate your skin - I mentioned this above, but it bears repeating. You didn’t mention using any exfoliants so this might not apply to you. But many people overuse them, especially glycolic acid (an AHA). In particular, AHA exfoliants are better used just 1-3 times a week, and never twice on the same day. Salicylic acid (BHA) is another story: some folks can safely tolerate it daily, or even twice daily, but it can be drying.

  • Try a facial oil under your moisturizer - this is especially nice if your skin’s got flaky or scaly dry patches. A good option is The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil for Skin Elascicity 1 oz/ 30 mL . Another option to consider, especially for a boost of moisturization, is The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalane for Skin and Hair Hydration 1 oz/ 30 mL or The INKEY List Squalane Oil 1 oz/ 30 mL (or if you wanna pay more, Biossance 100% Sugarcane Squalane Oil 3.4 oz / 100 mL); squalane’s a good moisturizer.

  • Apply moisturizer while your skin’s damp - some moisturizers are formulated with water and humectants that draw moisture into your skin, and that’s great! But still, if your skin’s normally quite dry, it can help to mist or tap a little water on your face right before you apply moisturizer. This gives your moisturizer some hydration to seal in. You can use a hydrating mist instead of water if you want; a good one for very dry skin is Youth To The People Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist with Peptides 4 oz/ 118 mL , but there are plenty of other good ones out there.

  • Use broad spectrum sunscreen - at least SPF 30, applied to ALL skin exposed to sunlight, all year long, regardless of weather or season. UV rays can cause a lot of skin damage, including worsened dryness. Some sunscreens contain at least one good moisturizing ingredient (dimethicone, shea butter, squalane, etc.) and can double as moisturizers. In warm weather, I can get away with skipping the morning moisturizer and just letting sunscreen pull double duty. But in cold weather, I always need a separate moisturizer under my sunscreen. Which sunscreen you use is highly subjective and depends on your personal preferences. My favorite chemical/organic sunscreen is Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40 but I’ve also tested The INKEY List Polyglutamic Acid Dewy Sunscreen SPF 30 1.7 oz / 50 ml with good results—though I’ll say TIL’s sunscreen is thicker and definitely leaves a more dewy finish than Unseen Sunscreen. My favorite mineral/inorganic sunscreen is Native Unscented Face Sunscreen SPF 30. And I alternate several other sunscreens that are chemical, mineral, and hybrid.

Sorry for the delayed reply, and hope you find something that works for you!

Caudalie Beauty Elixir Prep, Set, Glow Face Mist 3.3 oz/ 100 mL

Re: Dry skin

Agreeing with this list, @SerenaTra 💕 I would also add Kiehl's Since 1851 Ultra Facial Refillable Moisturizing Cream with Squalane 💕

Re: Dry skin

I would totally suggest the drunk elephant lala retro moisturizer, it is so hydrating! I know it’s a bit pricey but it is totally worth it. If your looking for cheaper you can do cerave moisturizer every day and then 3 times a week do vaseline. I hope this helps your skin! Drunk Elephant Lala Retro™ Nourishing Whipped Refillable Moisturizer

Re: Dry skin

I have soo many recommendations for dryness @SerenaTra but just so I give you the best advice can you share your routine with me? What your using, what is not working, where is the dryness etc..?

Re: Dry skin

Hi @CynthieLu I appreciate you responding to my post! I am currently using the ordinary serum and it doesn’t work the best!

Re: Dry skin

Hi @SerenaTra! Which serum from The ordinary do you have? You can use # to tag it.

If it’s just a serum, you might need something like an occlusive to seal it in. Occlusives are either waxy or oily and form a barrier to trap the moisture from your serum into your skin. Balms like Vaseline or aquaphor can be used. If that’s too thick/heavy for you, you can try a thick moisturizer. The Ordinary Mini Natural Moisturizing Factors + Hyaluronic Acid Daily Moisturizer 1 oz/ 30 mL is one option if you’re a fan of The Ordinary’s products.

After that, sunscreen would the last thing I would recommend for your skincare routine. If you are outside a lot, you might already have something you can use.
