Dry skin

My skin is suffering with the cold weather. I'm starting to peel and I am looking for a product that keeps my face moisturized throughout the day. I am open to any product suggestions but would prefer a sunscreen.

Re: Dry skin

@aramishel  What's your current skincare routine (brands + product names, from cleanser to sunscreen)? I don't want to recommend something you already use, or something that won't fit well within your routine.

Generally speaking: apply moisturizer to damp (but not soaking wet) skin to help seal in hydration. If your current moisturizer's not cutting it, consider using a petrolatum-based balm (CeraVe Healing Ointment, Aquaphor Ointment, Vaseline, etc.) as a full face moisturizer during winter. I sometimes do that for my mostly-dry combo skin: it helps protect my skin from windburn and chapping. (I live in Chicago.) You can apply sunscreen over any of those balms.

Re: Dry skin

Dry skin is no fun @aramishel I have it to,  here are some tips that have helped me alot,

  • Wash your face with luke warm *not hot* water. Hot water makes dry skin worse.
  • Do not use a towel to dry your face,  gently pat your skin dry, this also provides extra moisture by gently pushing some of the water back into your skin
  • Follow up moisturizing with a face oil,  the oil *use very little, like 1 or 2 drops only* will seal in the moisture from your serums and lotions

Wash --> serums--->lotions-->oil --->spf

Wash: The INKEY List Oat Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm 5 oz/ 150 mL  *gently rub on a damp face to remove make up and sunscreen,  best to follow with a regular cleanser like;

TULA Skincare Mini The Cult Classic Purifying Face Cleanser 1.69 oz/ 50 mL

Or

Glow Recipe Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser 5.41 oz/ 160 mL Or

Cerave Hydrating Cleanser

Serum: Glow Recipe Plum Plumpโ„ข Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum

 Elisabeth Arden Superstart Serum

Lotion: TULA Skincare 24-7 Moisture Hydrating Day & Night Cream or

LANEIGE Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Gel Moisturizer 1.6 oz/ 50 mL or

LANEIGE Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Cream Moisturizer 1.6 oz/ 50 mL or

Mario Badescu Seaweed Night Cream 1 oz / 28 g

Oil: Biossance Mini Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Firming Oil 0.5 oz / 15 mL  or

The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil 1 oz/ 30 mL

Spf: Elisabeth Arden City Smart Sunscreen or

Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40 PA+++

These are some of my skins favorites for moisture, but everyone's skins is different. What works for me might not work for you.  It takes weeks for a product to show you its working, so be patient when trying anything new.  I hope this helps and good luck @aramishel

Re: Dry skin

Some of the most common signs and symptoms of dry skin include:

  1. flakiness or scanlines
  2. redness
  3. rough texture
  4. itchiness
  5. raw, irritated skin
  6. cracks in your skin
  7. stinging or burning

The medical term for dry skin is xerosis. Symptoms can range in severity and look different depending on the area of your body thatโ€™s affected.

Re: Dry skin

I have dry skin as well with some eczema in certain spots and I have this same problem when it becomes winter time. My routine is a little extra so feel free to pick and choose what you need and donโ€™t. I use majority Korean products as they are affordable and high quality. Using a hydrating cleanser is a big game changer the tacha rice wash is really good but a more affordable option is the cerave hydrating cleanser. Then I invested in a good hydrating toner, the Iโ€™m From rice toner or the Pyunkang yul essence toner are really good ( I switch between both). I then go in with hydrating syrums first The Ordinary Hyaluronic acid 2% + B5 then the Cosrx advanced Snail 96 Power Essence and lastly the Dear Klairs Pure Vitamin C. For moisturizer, I use the Cerave Daily Moisturing Lotion. And before the moisturizer drys all the way I apply The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed oil on top to lock all the moisture in. By this point your face should look like a glazed donut. I wait about 5 minutes to make sure the oil has absorbed and then I apply sunscreen, the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun or the Derma B Everyday Sun Block. Both of these sunscreens are spf 50 and very moisturizing. Hope this helped!
