Dry skin on forehead

Hi! I have stopped using yttp face cleanser and switched to kate Somerville goats milk. I’m still having dry skin on forehead and above my eyebrows. Could it be too gentle? I thought at first it was yttp or my sunscreen. Switched the sunscreen to supergoop matte screen.

suggestions?  I do not use toner/serum …before I had been using Dr jart and still had peeling.

should I go back to the yttp cleanser?

Re: Dry skin on forehead

Numerous factors can contribute to dry facial skin. These include using harsh soaps, being exposed to fluctuating temperatures or humidity levels, and having skin diseases like eczema. If the dryness is extremely itchy or doesn't go away, consult a dermatologist. It's crucial to visit a doctor if you don't know what's causing the dryness.

Hey @Katie3184

How often do you exfoliate during the week?

In my case I have super dry, flaky skin and I find chemical exfoliation is a must weekly in order to have soft, smooth skin. I also think a serum is a must for dry skin.

Here is my favorite product to keep my skin looking flake free: Youth To The People Kombucha + 10% AHA Liquid Exfoliant with Lactic Acid and Glycolic Acid 4 oz / 11... I use it once a week at night.

and the serum that has worked wonders on my skin is Josie Maran Pure Argan Milk™ Intensive Hydrating Treatment 1 oz/ 30 mL this one helps deeply hydrate and soothe.

When it comes to SPF I feel matte finishes enhance my dryness and texture, I love using the. Paula's Choice RESIST Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 2/60 ❤️

I hope this helps

The majority of mild occurrences of dry, flaky skin on your face go away over time. Dry areas, though, can signal more serious issues.

If the dryness is extremely itchy or doesn't go away, consult a dermatologist. Thanks

Re: Dry skin on forehead

Hey @Katie3184 I saw where some of the things @WinglessOne mentioned you said you can't use. Anything with alcohol will dry out the skin and if you are dry there is a very good chance that the Kate Sommerville is not enough moisturizer for you. I would look into a toner that you can layer with a moisturizer and if you're super dry an oil as well. WinglessOne gives out great information when it comes to dry skin so if you can try some of the things she mentioned that would be great. I saw where you were having issues with the Fresh moisturizer leaving you with bumps. My skin doesn't play nicely with most of the Fresh moisturizers either but I do love their fresh Rose & Hyaluronic Acid Deep Hydration Toner . The sell a mini here on Sephora that you can try out. I am a huge fan of Vanicream moisturizer - it has none of the nasty stuff that you can find in skincare and is highly recommended by dermatologist and is pretty cheap as well. It's going to be a lot more moisturizing than the Dr Jart. You can find it at Amazon, Walmart, CVS, etc. Finally if you want to try an oil as well at night two great options that won't break the bank are The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil for Skin Elascicity 1 oz/ 30 mL and The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil for Skin & Hair 1 oz/ 30 mL . Personally I love the Rose Hip Seed oil better but read the description/reviews and see what one may work best for you. I would also stick with a routine for at least a month (barring that you don't have any reactions) to let your skin calm down. Good luck!!

Re: Dry skin on forehead

Hi @Katie3184 ! Has your skin always been peeling/flaky dry? Or did the flaky peeling start after you started using the YTTP cleanser?

Flaky peeling skin is usually a sign of a damaged skin barrier. That skin needs to heal. For that, you need a good moisturizer that's occlusive enough to prevent water loss from your skin. Apply moisturizer to skin while it's damp (but not dripping wet) to seal in more hydration. What's your current moisturizer?

You might need to start using a thick petrolatum-based balm where your skin's peeling. Petrolatum's the most occlusive topical skincare ingredient available (aside from things like hydrocolloid patches/bandages); it promotes healing while acting as a temporary protective barrier for damaged skin. My personal favorite is Aquaphor Ointment, but other options include CeraVe Healing Ointment, Vaseline, etc. If you know your skin's sensitive to lanolin, then avoid Aquaphor which contains that ingredient.

Re: Dry skin on forehead

my original routine was yttp cleanser, dr jart ceramidin lotion then dr jart ceramidin cream. (Also eye cream). I was using coppertone sunscreen think they changed things.  I’m guessing the sunscreen was drying my skin out maybe?! I then switched to kate Somerville goat milk cleanser, same eye cream, then Kate Somerville repair cream which was smelly and so thick it made my skin even worse. So eventually I tried fresh lotus night cream and day cream …now weeks later I got bumps from the fresh lotus. My newest sunscreen has been play matte screen.

Could the coppertone have dried out my skin? We had awful hot weather here. I used a humidifier last night even though ac was running.

I tried yttp cleanser other day.

then today in the AM I tried the dr jart cleanser I think it’s tiger grass as it was green, eye cream and dr jart ceramidin cream.

I’ve notice the dr jart ceramidin lotion contains alcohol as one of the top ingredients now maybe was also the culprit?!

my skin is not normally peeling. I can’t use petroleum on my face it clogs my pores and causes tiny bumps I’m able to use aquaphor on my feet only.

Thank you!

Re: Dry skin on forehead

Hi!  I would recommend trying a really thick cream or a balm and put it on a night.  That helps me when I get super dry patches in the winter.
