Dry Skin

I am a 12 year old girl I don’t use Make-up or skincare and my skin is dry and in the winter I also tend to break out and idk what to use any recommendations?

Re: Dry Skin

Hi @Margret12! That’s awesome that you’re getting into skincare. I wish I knew what I know now when I was 12. Maybe my skin would be better.

Anyway, skincare can be as simple as 3 steps or as complex as 10. Since you’re just starting out, I’d suggest keeping it simple with three steps. You can branch out from there for your specific needs.

Step 1: Cleanser

There are plenty of options, but stick to ones means for dry skin. Cleaners are great for stripping greasiness and dirt, but also any oils in your skin that you’d actually want to keep so that your skin doesn’t dry out. Using ordinary soap is an example of something that does this. The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser 5 oz/ 150 mL is a good and cheap option from Sephora. Cetaphil or CeraVe are good options from your local drugstore.

Step Two: Moisturizer

When looking for a moisturizer, check the ingredients to make sure there aren’t any comedogenic substances. Comedogenic means pore-blocking. Since you said you sometimes break out, avoiding these can help. #SEPHORA COLLECTION All Day Hydrator Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL is a good choice. Hyaluronic acid is non-comedogenic, so it won’t block your pores and contribute to break outs. SEPHORA COLLECTION Nourishing Moisturizer for Skin Barrier is another good option.

Step Three: Sunscreen

If you spend any time outdoors, you might already have a favourite. Remember to reapply every few hours, especially if you’re outside.

As for your breakouts, the best way to tackle them depends on what’s causing them. At your age, it might just be a part of growing up. If they bother you a lot, speak with your doctor about what to do. When it comes to skincare, benzoyl peroxide is the go-to ingredient for killing bacteria that are stuck in your pores. AHA/BHA are good for exfoliating, which also means they will help remove any dead skin that might end up clogging your pores.

Sorry if it’s information overload. Hopefully there’s something in here that will help.

Re: Dry Skin

You should 100% try some glow recipe moisturizers/serums, I am 12 too and I love trying out new skincare products but glow recipe works best for me. (You will also most definitely see good results!)
