Best foundation for dry skin

I’ve tried so many foundations and everything flakes on my dry skin (especially around my eyebrows and mouth) I use the hangoverX primer from toofaced and the Cerave moisturizer that was recommended to me by my dermatologist. I use retina and it drys out my skin. I’m not sure if I need a new moisturizer, primer or foundation but I’ll take any recommendations

RE: Best foundation for dry skin

It depends on more factors do you prefer sheer full or medium coverage? Do you like a buildable makeup? Natural or matte finish? Do you used setting spray after applying and do you have any allergies to the skin? For med to full I recommend- too faced born this way for a natural finish in the non luxury brands (but hey this stuff works amazing!!) or Bobby brown with their specific moisture cream it's a primer and cream in one simply amazing you can also use the other cream for oily skin under and get a more matte finish. For sheer coverage - I'd go with something with sunscreen bc of the retinol stuff your using so Laura mercier tinted moisturizer with the matte finish or bare minerals the serum. Be sure to consult with your physician if you are getting the retinol from them on skin care but ulahendrickson sheer glow moisturizer + the vitamin c serum is amazing!

Also, Dermalogica has saved my life. I use their dry line and exfoliate once a day - which really helps me lol.

What do you use to apply it? I find that using a brush with dry skin is a no no lol. It helps exfolaite you skin and can make you flake. A damp beauty blender and dabbing it into your skin may help - If you dont already lol

Re: Best foundation for dry skin

Have you tried sheet masks for hydration?  Too cool for school has a hydrating mask that comes highly recommended.  Also, what are you using for a make up remover? Try to avoid products with alcohol as they can dry out your face too, oil based cleansers work really well. Kiehl's has one.  Are you drinking at least 64oz of water a day? That can make a big difference with your skin.  I haven't tried Cerave moisturizer, but I really like Fresh vitamin Nectar, it does have a citrusy fragrance which I like but thought I'd let you know it isn't fragrance free.  Finally are you cleansing in the morning too? That could be drying out your skin, try using just warm water in the morning before you moisturize to avoid stripping your face of natural oils. I hope this helps:)
