Anyone else have super sensitive skin??

I find so many brands that other people love, irritate my dry skin! I think as I get older I am becoming more sensitive (I CANNOT tolerate any sort of strong fragrances) and this winter my skin is reaching a whole new level of messed up. I'm breaking out like crazy, plus my usual dry patches, and I even have a little rash under one eye that I think may be eczema! I need a new routine stat. help me!!

First Aid Beauty is amazing. Also Fresh but it is pricier. I have dry sensitive skin and LOVE FAB. My sister has freakishly sensitive skin and swears by Fresh.

RE: Anyone else have super sensitive skin??

Yes I’m super dry and sensitive too! Ive recently discovered that I am sensitive to Lavender oil which has been a huge find for me. Other than that it’s just trial and error! One of the main things to do is to strengthen your barrier layer which tends to be very thin and fragile for we dry, sensitive folks. Unfortunately I’ve found that inexpensive products don’t work that well for me. In terms of dealing with the super dry summer months, the key is to layer. I used to expect one moisturizing product to do all the work - impossible for me! Starting with a non-drying cleanser followed by a moisturizing toner or milk, followed by a serum, then a night cream or oil - I wake up with glowing, smooth skin. In the morning I rinse (I don’t cleanse again), moisturizing toner or milk, serum, and moisturizer usually keeps my skin in good shape for the day. Cleansers: Burt’s Bees oil cleanser, sometimes followed by Garnier or another Micellar water. Serums: night time - Luna night oil, Tatcha luminous overnight concentrate. I follow with Argan oil or some other oil. No lavender! Sunday Riley Good Genes is also amazing. I’ve never had any problem with sensitivity which is amazing for an AHA product Morning serum: I agree with the person who said that FAB products don’t break me out. In the winter their Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum to help a lot with retaining moisture through the day. Moisturizers that work for me: Sunday Riley CEO moisturize and protect cream is wonderful! I also like the IT cosmetics Secret Sauce (if you’re over 40!). Oils: help to seal in the moisturizer especially at night. Argan has been a safe bet for me. I get the inexpensive version on Amazon. Most of this stuff is a little pricey but it lasts a long time and their are smaller sizes available for you to try. And I don’t hesitate to return anything that breaks me out. Good luck!

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to share all that! I think I'm going to try what you said about rinsing instead of cleansing in the morning. It kind of feels like overkill whrn i cleanse in the morning but I'm also acne prone so I'm terrified of leaving my pores clogged, lol.

yes Yes YES. This is me. I have super dry and sensitive skin too. If I leave a regular mask on too long my skin turns red. So First Aid Beauty has been my BABY. Pretty much everything is for people with sensitive skin, although I have had issue with their newest mask (it was too harsh for me and I had to return it). But the ultra repair cream is gold. I use it every day and have for over a year. You should also look into the brand Ren. They have a line specifically for sensitive skin. A little pricey, but so gentle and luxurious. I LOVE their gentle cleansing milk and they're sensitive skin serum worked wonders for me last winter. As someone who has personally experienced the struggle, I wish you luck.

Thank you so much! I've gotten a ton of recommendations for FAB and I love the primer I've tried from them. Time to dive a little deeper into this brand!
