ADVICE: MALE SKIN CARE ROUTINE

Hello. I am 30yo wanting to develop an efficient skin care routine for morning and evenings. I work crazy finance hours and need to develop a routine I can actually accomplish, but also don't want to get behind the ball on skin care. What are some tips or steps ya'll would recommend.

African American. Dry skin. Visible pores. 30 years old. No acne.

@christopher0 my husband loves the Kiehl's Facial Fuel Collection.  It isn't available at Sephora but Nordstrom has it and Kiehl's direct as lots great offers throughout the year.

Re: ADVICE: MALE SKIN CARE ROUTINE

Hi @christopher0! My advice would be to keep it simple. So that it’s not too much effort to do. When it’s overly complicated, it might become a chore and you’ll be less likely to stick to it. The advice to do it in the shower is a good idea. I do that in the morning when I shower.

Ideally, skincare should be twice a day, morning and evening. In the morning, cleanse, moisturizer, sunscreen, even if you have dark skin. While you might not experience sunburn, there’s still the risk of skin cancer. In the evening, repeat the steps but skip sunscreen.

Here’s a few recommendations that I have personally used. I have dry skin as well.

Cleanser: The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser 5 oz/ 150 mL

Moisturizer: SEPHORA COLLECTION All Day Hydrator Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL

Sunscreen: Clarins Dry Touch Facial Sunscreen SPF 50

Re: ADVICE: MALE SKIN CARE ROUTINE

@christopher0  I like to keep my face wash in the actual shower so that while I’m showering I can wash my face while i’m in there vs trusting myself to just remember to get up and do it when it’s hidden away in a drawer or cabinet; small things like that make a difference in me being consistent lol.

As far as actual products I don’t like to do too much for skincare since I breakout easily so i keep my routine simple with only like 3 or 4 steps. I use Cerave “Hydrating Facial cleanser” which is the one for dry skin or the Cetaphil “Gentle Skin Cleanser Face Wash” (the one that says normal to dry skin) if i don’t have Cerave.
After the cleanser I take a cotton pad and use Thayers “Alcohol Free Witch Hazel Facial Toner” (i’ve never tried this one before but there’s a 2% AHA pore refining one if you wanted to check that out)

Then i use the a.m or p.m Cerave facial moisturizing lotion depending on the time of day; the a.m. one is a SPF moisturizer. However, on nights where i may need a thicker moisturizer I use the Cetaphil body moisturizing cream instead.

So my whole routine is just wash, toner, and then moisturize. Also, I keep my facial toner and moisturizer near my body lotions so that way when i’m finished taking a shower and washing my face, everything is all there and it’s easy to keep up with the routine.
