Brown Girl Friendly Cleanser

Hey I'm on the search for a new face cleanser that's brown girl friendly. Normal to Combo skin,  Any suggestions please?

Brown Girl Friendly Cleanser

I would recommend youth to the people cleanser. it will leave your skin feeling clean and it great for all skin types. I would also recommend Korres cleanser and tatcha cleansers.

Brown Girl Friendly Cleanser

Most cleansers are brown girl friendly, just depends on your skin type. I'm combo as well and I've been loving the Sturm Cleanser for Darker Tones, Peter Thomas Roth's Glycoic Cleanser, NaturaBissé The Cure Cleanser, annnnd those are the main ones for right now.

The only cleansers I can think of right now that’s specifically marketed to darker skin tones are Dr. Barbara Sturm Darker Skin Tones Foam Cleanser 5 oz/ 150 mL and Dr. Barbara Sturm Darker Skin Tones Enzyme Cleanser 2.6 oz/ 75 g And honestly, I’m not sure what makes them more effective for brown skin than most other cleansers that contain similar ingredients. Dr. Barbara Sturm was recently on BIC for a live chat session; she might’ve provided more info on these cleansers in that chat thread: https://community.sephora.com/t5/Skincare-Aware/Live-Skincare-Consultation-with-Dr-Barbara-Sturm-Aes...

For cleansers, I focus more on which ones will work for my skin type (mostly-dry combo, prone to hormonal acne, and somewhat finicky) than my deeper skin tone. I currently alternate between 2 Paula’s Choice cleansers: CLEAR Pore Normalizing Cleanser which contains salicylic acid, and Hydralight Cleanser. Both of those effectively clean my oily zone without stripping my dry zones. I rely on other products in my skincare routine to treat my large hyperpigmentation patches and other concerns.

The DT cleanser has a higher concentration of salicylic acid than the other cleanser to counteract the excess sebum typically produced by POC, it also has higher anti inflammatory properties than the other cleanser (I'm reviewing it here if it helps any! https://community.sephora.com/t5/Deeper-Shades/Dr-Barbara-Sturm-Darker-Skin-Tones-Line/m-p/4921341#M...)

I know a rep for the company so I can see if she can give me the specifics! I'll check back in and tag you once I've got an answer.

@IttyxBittyxMe  I’m glad the Sturm DT cleanser is working well for you! What % of salicylic acid does it contain? I sometimes use a 2% BHA leave-on exfoliant, so I don’t need a high % in my cleanser. 🙂 But I’m curious because I can’t find info on this anywhere, and I like to know the total amount of BHA I’m putting on my skin in my routine—especially when I include AHA in the routine. Is the % stated on the bottle?

The Paula’s Choice Clear Cleanser has just 0.5% BHA, which is all my skin seems to need when paired with a leave-on. The other PC cleanser I use contains no BHA.

Thank you, will look into both suggestions !

@KTamzz

What do you mean brown girl friendly? I didn’t realize cleansers were geared towards specific races...?

Re: Brown Girl Friendly Cleanser

There's a reason you can search reviews and filter by Skin Tone.
