What are some easy tricks for contour first timers?

Easy tricks? Advice? Thoughts?

RE: What are some easy tricks for contour first timers?

Find your cheek bone and put the contour shade JUST below or half on it (depends on your preference). Always blend up not down. Build slowly! This is the most important, if you do too much too fast it will be super hard to blend out without it getting muddy or patchy. This apples to both cream and powder. If the powder is a little too intense you can use your face powder to blend it out gently. And for cream you can go over with your beauty blender or foundation brush lightly to blend the contour out.

Thank you for the advice! That helps a lot!

I didn't know to blend up, not down...thank you! Do you find it best to have the bottom of the cheek contour as a crisp clean line, or should it be more blended? I've seen tutorials where people put a clean highlight line underneath to make it really sharp, and others don't.

I think its all preference- of course you don't want it too blended far down, but that crisp line depends on what look you're going for! Personally, I think a crisp line under contour suits more heavy glam makeup, where the entire looks is usually very crisp/ clean cut. A subtle blended contour is more so if you want a natural looking shadow in the hollows of your face!
