Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

We've seen you buzzing over this launch in the Pat McGrath Thread and know how much the BIC loves Pat, so the moment we learned about this launch we knew we HAD to get our hands on a few tubes and give you another concealer testimonial. We will be sharing our thoughts on everything from the packaging to wear time... We will be covering ALL. OF. IT. - pun intended - and you’ll soon see why.

How does the PAT McGRATH LABS Sublime Perfection Concealer M17 perform and what's the verdict on the packaging and shade range?

  • Packaging: The luxe, glass tube is fitting for this quality formula and the applicator makes it easy to dot or wipe on your desired amount of product. We suggest using a light hand and building up until you achieve your desired coverage.
  • Coverage: You can go in with a light dab for minimal coverage without the formula looking cakey. If you're the opposite (like me) and are seeking to camouflage certain areas and spots you aren't crazy about, I think you will be a believer in this formula. What is acne, redness, and scarring? I suddenly have perfectly clear skin (Thanks Pat!). Pretty sure I could use this concealer to cover up all my past mistakes. @AlexBT also noted that this did a great job at concealing her pores.
  • Formula: Oh Mother, this formula is FANTASTIC. You would think that anything this effective at disguising our facial gripes would be dry and take residence in all the lines but, by some miracle, it doesn't. It's smooth, not drying, offers great coverage, and lasts for days. The formula contains something called "vita-serum complex" which is moisturizing and literally combats the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. We love it when makeup incorporates skincare benefits and, I mean, it's Pat so she did it right. @BrendaBT , Alex, and I were all impressed by the smooth application and and the smooth appearance of our skin after applying the product. Of course this doesn't flatten my milia and blemishes, but it makes them hardly noticeable. Best part? No need to reapply because this formula stays put and it's very rare I feel this way about a concealer.
  • Shade range: There are 36 shades launching and they cover several shade categories across skintones: light (L1-L7), light medium (LM 8-LM14), medium (M15-M21), medium deep (MD22-MD28), and deep (D29-D36). To see the full shade range see the swatches above. Details on my shade are in the spoiler tab for anyone interested.

  • Rating: 10/10! 5 stars! Can you tell we like this formula yet? For me, if I really love a concealer I will purchase multiple shades so let's just say I will be buying a shade for every season.

Pro tip: To warm up your look, this formula is fantastic when used as a bronzier, darker shade (in the right places). I tested shade MD23 to shape my nose, add warmth to my cheeks, and to even add dimension to my eyes.

Here’s what you need to know about Pat McGrath’s Sublime Perfection Concealer:

  • It launches on Friday, 2/21
  • Great for light or full-coverage
  • Great for dry skin - it's actually moisturizing!
  • Won't sit in your creases
  • Minimizes the appearance of pores
  • The formula actually lasts - you shouldn't need to reapply throughout the day

Final word on the Sublime Perfection Concealer? LOVE! We're sold for life so good luck to any other concealers. Pat has stolen our hearts - again!

Are you looking forward to trying this concealer? Let us know!

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

I actually haven't tried it yet @KatieBT, but I have been eyeing it since I keep hearing so many good things about it.  I am running in to my local store tomorrow to pick up the NATASHA DENONA - Love Palette, so maybe I'll ask for a sample when I do.  Thanks for the recommendation!  Have a fabulous weekend!!

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

thank you for sharing swatches! It sounds super interesting! I'll be interest for sure to see thoughts on how this and the new hourglass one compare ! I had a chance to touch that one in store so I'll be excited to see these in store as well !

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

@Kim888 oooh I love Hourglass too I will need to have myself a little swatch party this weekend!

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

Hi Katie

which shade was your match? I can’t see the spoiler information. What is your skin tone please?

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

It sounds great. Can’t wait for it to appear in stores so I can check it out and decide on my shade. Thank you for sharing review and swatches @KatieBT

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

@fatimamummy I'm excited for you to try this! What's your go-to concealer right now?

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

@KatieBT  SEPHORA COLLECTION - Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer and NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer with Hydrating Medium Coverage Madeleine First one is moisturizing but not enough coverage for a few dark spots under my eye area. Nars has great coverage but it has tendency to sit in fine lines. A concealer that can give full coverage and is moisturizing is a dream.

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

@KatieBT this concealer is definitely intriguing me! 😍 your swatches, looks, and feedback were so helpful, thanks Katie and Brenda!!

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

You're so welcome @bakeamuffin - glad we could help!! What concealer are you using at the moment?

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

@KatieBT I'm working through a tube of LAURA MERCIER - Flawless Fusion Ultra Longwear Concealer. I bought it after sampling a bunch of concealers, and am overall happy with it's staying power, viscosity, and shade match but I do find that it can crease a bit, which is no good for dry skin types and super tired eyes so I would love something that is a step up!

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

@bakeamuffin ah yes makeup loves to find its way into our little facial creases! I hope the PMG works for you - another important factor is simply making sure you've prepped your skin with a lot of moisturizing ingredients. This time of year is rough - literally!

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

Hmmm curious about this one for covering a darkened spot, so I can go ‘makeup-less’ but better @KatieBT. Nice broad shade selection!

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

@eshoe Yes! I have dark spots that sometimes seem impossible to cover but this concealer covered them very nicely and kept them covered through the day as well which is usually my struggle as well.

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

Would love it to last all day, @BrendaBT! Once I’ve applied whatever makeup I’m wearing, I typically don’t have time to retouch it. Sounds very  promising!

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

@eshoe I feel like this would do the trick since it covered up red acne so well. I can't even imagine how well this would work if I added color correcting to the process!

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

@KatieBT I am a color-correcting amateur so I am going to be taking notes on how this is put to the test. Looking forward to the comparisons!

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

Oh yay, @KatieBT. Thank you so much for posting swatches. This is so helpful. This is probably the most excited I have been for a new release in a long time, as I truly could use a moisturizing concealer that doesn't crease. I only wish I didn't have to wait until Feb. 21 to order...haha.

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

@PrettyPaint I'm excited you're excited!! And very glad you found our post helpful - if there's anything else you want to see or know about the product let me know.

Yes, 2/21 is a little ways away but 14 days to flawless coverage!! Now that the neverending month of January is over I'm sure the weeks will fly by 😄

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

Thank you for this @KatieBT ! I have been curious about this new launch and now I’m really considering picking up the concealer. Any concealer that is full coverage and not dry is a winner in my book as well. I will be adding this to my cart tonight 😉

Re: Trialing Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer

@gonerogue I know we have two weeks to launch but once you do pick it up let me know what you think!
