Products for flush?

Hi everyone -- I get severe alcohol flush (I look sunburned!) after even one drink. (My skin tone definitely has red undertones normally, but nothing too troublesome.) I use Smashbox color-correcting green primer, and it helps a little but not as much as I need. I'm looking for either products that I can apply in-the-moment to reduce the redness, or products that could help reduce redness in the long run. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!!

try using a colour correcting primer like the one smashbox has. I have the same problem and that works for me under the kvd foundation (which is also very full coverage)

RE: Products for flush?

If it’s not a skin reaction and just flushing, I don’t think anything will help unless you use a full coverage foundation. Is it worth having something in hand that you need to apply after drinking to cover the flush? Have you tried changing up drinks? For one of my friends highballs don’t do this to him but beer does.

I agree with @k617 A full coverage foundation like Kat Von D or Estee Lauder might be your best bet

Re: Products for flush?

@cbswope  I just started using dr Jart cicapair color correcting treatment to help with my mild rosacea. I’m finding that it works better to tone down my redness than any other color corrector I’ve tried, plus it doesn’t leave my face dry or greasy or make me break out. It also leaves a very nice base on which to apply foundation. I don’t think it will be a complete solution to the alcohol flush, but it may lessen the effect somewhat. They make a smaller size so you can try it without breaking the bank

RE: Products for flush?

You’re most likely allergic. I get really, really red after 3 sips of alcohol. I drink maybe once a year-if that. But I know I’m allergic. Idon’t know if any product that will get rid of that.

RE: Products for flush?

Probably not a good idea to mix OTC medication and alcohol! Some people lack the ability to process a specific compound in alcohol which give them the red flush. A few of my friends have this issue but they are not allergic.

RE: Products for flush?

@jozkidyep, a higher percentage of Asians lack the enzyme to break down acetaldehyde. Luckily I don’t seem to lack this enzyme while many of my friends do...

Re: RE: Products for flush?

I didn't know this until a few months ago, but there is a physical condition that causes a lot of Asians to flush when they drink alcohol @k617
