Primer vs Moisturizer

I have tried to use a primer under my foundation but I find that my skin is sensitive to silicone or silica. Is a primer necessary or could a moisturizer do the same as a primer? I know that there are some primers without silicone or silica but, to me, the results from those products seem similar to that of a moisturizer. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated XOXOX 💋 -Britt

Re: Primer vs Moisturizer

I actually love using a blurring primer and occasionally a little concealer or BB cream with no foundation. It's cleared up my skin tremendously!

RE: Primer vs Moisturizer

I don't use primer. I believe if your skin is beautiful then a primer isn't needed. What I do is i clean my skin very well then I do my Korean skin regimen. I also add a tiny bit of vitamin E oil and last I put on suncreen. I apply my foundation then use urban decay spray (it's the one that makes ur makeup stay all night).

I always apply MOISTURIZER then PRIMER and loovvvee the pirefiller silicone ones but it's cuz I have big pores.if you don't like the silicone based ones buy a different kind cuz the thing about a primer is to make your skin like a smooth canvas and it does!Where moisturizers by themselves, will make your FOUNDATION move around everywhere if it's not soaked in good and set even be for You put your PRIMER on.the two are nothing alike I promise hun,😊

Thanks for the input! I do enjoy the smooth looking results of a silicone primer under my foundation. However, I have an allergy to silicone primers even if I put a small amount. I now need to go silicone free in my primer. Hope the results are just as effective as other primers! Thanks for sharing! @ChristyLee77

a primer will make your skin look more flawless then a mostizer is what i have relized, it will make more smoother if that is a concern that use the primer and it will last longer and if u have oily skin then for sure primer or else makeup will not last but if you dont need or dont want to use foundation then use a bb cream without useing a primer which would be just fine

Thanks for the input! Yes, I noticed a smooth finish when I used a primer under my foundation. I loved the look! However, I need one without silicone or silica. I do use BB creams. For me it is a great alternative for light coverage in the summertime. Thanks again! @ItsZeee

Your welcome @Birvin and I'm sure there are primers without silicone and silica but i think then there wouldnt be too much of a difference from a moisturizer. So what you can also do is put a moisturizer first leave it on like 5 to 10 mins then apply a primer on top of that.

RE: Primer vs Moisturizer

I am superloyal to First Aid Beauty's Coconut Skin Smoothie Primer. Coconut water is the first ingredient. Its slightly shimmery though so if youre going for matte thats a no-no.

RE: Primer vs Moisturizer

Thanks for the tip! I'll give First Aid Beauty Coconut Smooth Primer a try! Thanks again @theflake

RE: Primer vs Moisturizer

Personally, I find my makeup lasts longer using a primer than just using moisturizer alone. Have you looked at the Two Faced Hangover Primer? It has coconut water (I believe). I don't necessary find it the most effective Primer, but I would say it straddles the line between a moisturizer/Primer, could be what you are looking for!

RE: Primer vs Moisturizer

I have heard about Too Faced Hangover Primer and now @theflake recommended a coconut Primer from First Aid. I'll give these two a try. Hope it all works out! Thanks @CareerGirl for the recommendation!
