Pressed Powder Foundation (and primer)?

Hey,

I currently use Make Up Forever Pro Finish - have been for the past 3 years. My skin can get oily, but it's starting to balance out now.

Was wondering if anyone had had any luck with a different brand or kind of pressed powder foundation.

Also, what do you all use as your primer for a powder foundation? I've been using Hourglass Veil but am starting to think it might be too drying with a powder foundation...

Re: Pressed Powder Foundation (and primer)?

Before they changed the formulation and didn't have a color light enough for me anymore, I loved the Bare Minerals Pressed Powder Foundation.  It went on so smoothly, didn't bother my dry skin and didn't really even need a primer.  I'm still so disappointed that they don't have a color match for me.

@coffeexdrinker my favorite powder foundation is the Laura Gellar Baked Foundation. It gives such a beautiful finish and is easily buildable but not cakey. I looooove the Hourglass Mineral Veil But if you feel like thatโ€™s drying, Iโ€™d recommend the Smashbox Primerizer. Itโ€™s a primer and moisturizer in one. My girlfriend uses it and swears by it!

Re: Pressed Powder Foundation (and primer)?

@coffeexdrinker, for the last few years, my favorite powder foundation has been the Sephora Collection MicroSmooth Baked Foundation Face Powder - coverage-wise, it's buildable sheer to light-medium powder foundation.  I know that many people use this more as a finishing or setting powder, but it has served me well as a powder foundation.  I found it applies best with the Sephora Multitasker brush #45.5 or the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.  If you are looking for a powder foundation that is more medium-to-full coverage, I'd recommend Benefit Hello Flawless! Powder Foundation.

My go-to primer is Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer - it's lightweight, goes on smoothly, absorbs well and is hydrating.  It's worked well for me under the Sephora Collection powder foundation.

Re: Pressed Powder Foundation (and primer)?

I have to say that I was really surprised in a good way about how well the Sephora Collection pressed powder works.  It's very similar to the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish pressed powder foundation, but the shade range at MAC is more extensive than the Sephora Collection.

As far as primers go, I'm a big fan of Smashbox's Photo Finish line of primers, especially the original version - have used that for years now.  I recently picked up the Touch In Sol No Poreblem primer and have been impressed by it.
