Mixing Foundation and Moisturizer

As I spend time taking care of my skin, I've been liking lower coverage foundations. I have tan/olive/NC42 skin and can never find the right BB Cream. I've tried the IT Cosmetics CC cream and find that too full coverage. Sssoooooo, I've been mixing my foundation (Ordinary coverage) with my moisturizer (Lancome Energie de Vie) and I like the coverage, but am confused about when to use a primer? If I use a primer before am I loosing the benefits of my moisturizer? Can I mix my foundation with my primer instead? Thanks in advance!

I am olive/tan. I use Smashbox BB Water with SPF 30 and it blends really well. Try their shades.

We have the exact same foundation color. I prefer light/medium coverage foundation as well. I moisturize, prime then apply the tiniest amount of foundation with my Artis Oval 7. It soaks up little to no product and spreads my foundation soooo evenly.

Thanks @darlyndar. I find it really hard to spread a small quantity over my face and neck and always end up using more. Whats foundation do you use? Always on the lookout for something new!

@Aaliaa But I think you should really look into the Artis Oval 7. I still use a beauty blender for my concealer and powder but that brush is sooooo amazing for foundation! It’s either that or my Clarisonic foundation brush. But my Artis is definitely my go-to. I bought the entire line on HSN cause they do flex pay. I can’t justify $300 for a brush set in one payment! Lol. But $70 for one brush is worth it if it does exactly what it says. ❤️

@Aaliaa I know your struggle, believe me! Lol! I’m oily that’s why I don’t mix with moisturizer. I’d be so shiny in an hour. Right now, I switch between 4..Fenty 260, Too Faced Peach In Sand and Double Wear  and Double Wear Nude..both in Honey Bronze. Actually, I think the Double Wear Nude would be perfect for you. It’s a light to medium coverage as it is. It’s a gorgeous foundation. I think you’d really like it.

Thanks @darlyndar! I will definitely look out for the brush. I placed an order for the Clarisonic foundation brush head, so might try that out first. Thanks for sharing your foundations, I'm going to check out the Double Wear Nude tomorrow at Sephora. Maybe I'll use my $25 promo towards it.
