Looking For Reccomendations For A Luminizing Foundation That Plays Well With Mature Skin

Hi all, I am DESPERATE to find a foundation that is slightly luminizing, for mature skin, over 50. I have pretty normal skin with some dry patches around my eye area. I have some pretty deep forehead lines, that I am working on with serums and skin care, but we all know that it takes time for any results to materialize. I am hoping that my doctor will prescribe some Tretinoin cream when I next see him. Fingers and toes crossed, but that's an entire other issue. I've been using Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation for awhile now and I do love it, but lately, it has just been making my face look kind of flat and dull. I've been wanting to try a more natural/luminous finish and see how that looks, just a little worried it will empathize my textured (big pores) cheeks and lined forehead and who wants that?!  I am game to consider anything that anyone can recommend. Sephora or drugstore, it doesn't matter as long as it performs well and doesn't settle into those pesky lines ands wrinkles, give me polka dot pores and all the other nastiness that can sometimes happen with mature skin. I have been adding in a opalescent mixer with the double wear and also tried adding in some  Iconic London Luminizing Drops, but it just doesn't look right. I've also tried using Smashbox Radiant Primer and the Milani Soft Focus Glow Complexion Enhancer but sadly, just no, nope, no!! Then I finally broke and invested in a really good contour/highlighter kit, the one made by Lorac. I could only get the powder kit and it makes me look even worse, dried out to be honest. With all the cash I've spent on trying to get these matte( I also have the Fenty and the new Lancome) foundations to have more glow and that lit from within look, I should have just bought a more suitable foundation a long time ago.

SO, any help and recommendations would be super helpful. I've only been wearing makeup since the beginning of summer. I used to wear a full face back in the early 2000's before I had a family and lots of time to invest in me. I gave up on makeup fore about 15 years or so and things have changed so much. The techniques and formulas and the amount of products kind of make my head spin. I'd like to be able to get something during Black Friday pricing. I am willing to go to about $70-$80 Canadian at the most, just don't tell the husband!!!  Thanks to all that took the time to read this super long and drawn out post!!

Hi @kel70,

If you have mature, dry skin, look for a foundation that is hydrating and won't emphasize fine lines or wrinkles. I recommend the Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Perfect Glow Flawless Oil-Free Foundation . For extra hydration, I recommend pairing it with a hydrating primer, I really like the YVES SAINT LAURENT - Touche Eclat Blur Primer.

Hi @kel70 , I only started makeup in my 30's and since last year I have been using BAREMINERALS - COMPLEXION RESCUE™ Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30

It is luminous on my combo skin but  I have large pores so I like it because it doesn't look dry on my face/sink into pores and lasts all day. It is a medium, very natural coverage and applies well with fingers :). If you want to build up more coverage, I would use a damp beauty blender.  I love that I can  put it on quickly with my fingers with no fuss.

Also, if you have dry eyes and use concealer, I would add an oil to it so it doesnt crease. It really plumps up the undereye. I hope this helps 🙂

Hi @kel70 - My all time favorite foundation is  DIOR - Dior Airflash Spray Foundation. It's a really light weight foundation that provides medium coverage, but because it applies smoothly and provides a lightweight application, it is buildable. I also tend to mix it with a luminizing primer and/or liquid highlighter which is really pretty. I highly recommend you try it out.
