How Do You Apply Concealer Correctly?

I have had a burning question on my mind for a long time now; how do you apply your concealer so that it doesn’t crease, break-apart, and fall into the fine lines and bags underneath your eyes? I have tried multiple brands and formulations of concealer, and the conclusion I have come to is that I must be missing some trick to it. My concealer always seems to fall apart.

Re: How Do You Apply Concealer Correctly?

@jennaoliver

I’m going to give you my routine for concealer and hopefully it will provide some insight for you. For reference I have oily skin and don’t have issues with creasing at all.

1st step- moisturizer all over face and around eyes. I like to use TATCHA - The Water Cream.

2nd step- eye cream under and around eye area. I like to use BELIF - Moisturizing Eye Bomb

3rd step- primer (applied with fingers), foundation and concealer (one at a time and applied with a BEAUTYBLENDER - the original beautyblender®)

I like to use Tatcha The Silk Canvas Protective Primer 0.7 oz/ 20 g Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Concealer with Hyaluronic Acid Natural Beige

4th step- brightening powder to set the undereyes; setting powder for the rest of the face. I like to use Kat Von D’s Brightening powder but it is no longer sold here so I can’t tag it. For setting powder I like to use TOO FACED - Born This Way Ethereal Setting Powder

5th step- setting spray to lock everything in. I like to go with the classic Urban Decay All Nighter Waterproof Makeup Setting Spray Standard Size - 4 oz/ 118 mL

One thing I should note that I didn’t mention is that I set my whole face with a BEAUTYBLENDER - the original beautyblender® dipped into my powders and press it into the skin. I find that this technique works for my skin in comparison to using brushes.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Best of luck!
