Holy Grail Primer?

What is your holy grail for foundation primer??

I'm mostly looking for something smoothing and pore-filling. I have tried the Benefit Porefessional one but I disliked it and now that I know Benefit is not cruelty free, I have discontinued use.

I'm currently using the Touch in Sol No Poreblem and it's okay, but I'm almost out so I'm trying to decide on repurchasing or trying something else out.

I've been looking at the Tatcha Silk Canvas and Tarte Timeless Smoothing primers, but haven't chosen anything yet.

Open to any suggestions as long as they're cruelty free please!

RE: Holy Grail Primer?

I’ve heard a lot of really good things about the tarte clean slate timeless primer, and know that they are cruelty free! I’d say try that one. My favorite is the hourglass mineral veil, but I’m dry and looking to fill fine lines.

Hi @Shaetasstic,

I'm currently obsessed with the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Primer! I got it as a 100 points Reward and when I was finished with it, I bought the full size. A little product goes such a long way with this primer! It definitely makes your skin smoother and it's pore-filling. You can find it here > https://www.sephora.com/product/touche-eclat-blur-primer-P397615?skuId=1713114&icid2=products%20grid.... 🙂

Best Regards,

❤️ Raquel

@Shaetasstic,

I've heard so many good things about the Tatcha primer! I also imagine that it would last a long time, the packaging is huge. My favorite primer is the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. It feels like I am putting liquid silk on my face, my foundation goes on super smoothly.

Re: Holy Grail Primer?

Another vote for the Tatcha silk canvas! I do have a few tips for it, as I had to play with it a bit to get it act right. My first tip is let it dry a good time before you put foundation on it, it goes on very tacky and your makeup gets all cakey if you don't let it dry. I personally wash my face, put on the primer, straighten my hair so the primer can dry, then do the rest of my makeup. I also will put a small amount of setting powder over the primer as well to help with the tackiness if I am in a hurry or it my skin is extra oily that day.

Re: Holy Grail Primer?

@Shaetasstic I'm obsessed with the Tatcha primer! It totally smooths my skin, diffuses imperfections and keeps my makeup looking fresh. I also use it as my eyeshadow primer. It totally grabs the pigment, so shadows that were barely there before go on much more vibrant.

Holy Grail Primer?

It depends what kind of skin you have. I have super dry skin and the Peter Thomas Ruth left my skin so patchy. I've started using Hourglass Veil Mineral primer and so far love it.

Re: Holy Grail Primer?

@Shaetasstic Aside from the Benefit and Touch in Sol's primers, I would recommend you try out Dr. Brandt's Pores No More and Peter Thomas Roth's Skin To Die For. They are both pore-filling and very smooth primers. I like to alternate primers every week or so and I always go back to these two because they are amazing. I will link them down below for you to check out 🙂
