Frustrated about foundation and sharing the products

Hi every beautiful human here,

I am a 20years old asian girl, who is struggling with buying foundation and concealer products.

My skin typecombination skin

(I think more it’s more like a oily skin but dry at both sides of my nose and lips)

Skin concern: uneven texture, redness, pores, blackheads

I have tried:

  • Foundation:

💛MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 N4.75(mine is NC17)

- I like the shade of this, it brighten up my skin and matches my skin tone.

- 🥲But the problem for me is it always becomes cakey and creasy.(mostly T zone)

- I did use their power to set(I did it with brush and was doing it gently), but still cakey🥹

I am so frustrating now

[conclusion]

If you have a nice skin (like a healthy neutral skin), it’s a pretty good choice! Because Mac have SO MANY SHADE that you could chose, so you definitely gonna find your shade!
But it might not be the best foundation for me ;(

💛 #Lancôme(black lid)

- I have the shade 360 of the liquid foundation.

- I really like how smooth it feels on the skin and it’s feels light weight

-It feels like it melt into my skin when I apply it.

- 🥲But the big problem for me is the shade does not match my skin well, plus it will start to oxidize really quick and it makes my skin looks really dull

[conclusion]

If you find a shade that matches your skin tone, then you are gonna love it🥹❤️ Because the texture of the product is just SO GOOD

  • Concealer:

💛#Mac concealer plate(medium shade)

- This actually works pretty good!

- It works so well for the dark circles!!

- It color corrected it so my dark circles don’t look grey after concealing them.

- And it is very creamy so it doesn’t makes you under eye feels dry at all.

-🥲My only concern is I don’t know should I change it to the light shade or keep the medium shade.
-Because I found that I only use the shade of the top right corner and the two lightest shade in the plate. There is three colors that are either too yellow or it’s too dark for me to use.(I do not contour my face so… yeah)

[conclusion]
😆I highly recommend this product!

Better if you know how to color correct your face.
(like, use greenish color to color correct your redness before foundation or use slightly pinky color to color correct your dark circles)

💛#Lancôme concealer(250)

- I like Lancôme product’s texture🫶🏻 It works really well on skin and melt into my skin.

🥲But again, as I mentioned, it doesn’t matches my skin tone and this shade is too light.

[conclusion]

If you find your shade, I really recommend it.
But they don’t have many shade to chose from🥺

so lastly,

some questions about some products that don’t relate to my topic  LOL:

what is your thought about #NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder?

Do you have other recommendations of setting powder other than the NARS one?

last last last,

PLEASSSEEEE HELP ME😭

I just want to find a nice foundation😭

and I hope this helps some people (idk)

THANK YOU!😭😭❤️❤️

Re: Frustrated about foundation and sharing the products

@strawBEARy108 As someone who started out wearing MAC tinted moisturizer and face and body and the pro longwear concealer in their 20s I would say you definitely need to find one that suits your skin concerns/type and tone.  I no longer use those products because they discontinued the tinted moisturizer and I found a concealer and tinted moisturizer that I like just as much.

I have dry combo meaning oily in the t zone and dry everywhere else.  I use NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer  because I like a more sheer coverage.  I also like to custom mix my foundations for a better match.  I have pretty good skin for someone that is almost 40 (as shown in my gallery pics).  A great concealer that I would recommend is NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer with Medium Coverage

Before you can even have a great makeup look you have to start with your skincare.  Are you using products to address your blackheads, texture, redness?  I know makeup can sometimes help hide these but it's best to tackle your skincare concerns first.

Also being Asian, you need to find what your undertones are.  Do you have pink, neutral, or warm?  For me, I have neutral.  This will help you get a better shade match knowing what yours is.

I have tried the NARS Starstruck Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder and I didn't really like it on me.  I use Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Refillable Setting Powder  and Hourglass Veil™ Translucent Setting Powder - Talc Free Translucent
