Concealer and dry skin

The concealer I currently use is drug store fit me concealer which at first is great but keeps making my skin look caked and keeps making me look dry and flaky.  I'm not gonna blame the concealer because my skin has all of a sudden become superrr dry and flakes all the time even after I moisturize every day.  Because it's so flakey, my makeup look so bad.  If anyone has anyone tips or new concealer they recommend for my problem.  Does anyone know why my skin is all of a sudden so flaky?  Any really good moisturizers that won't break me out?

Re: Concealer and dry skin

@Emmanylese, there could be a number of reason for your skin becoming more dry and flakey, including the change in the weather.  My skin gets even more dry in the winter months.

A couple of things you may want to try - first, are you exfoliating regularly (2-3x per week)?  If not, you may want to start incorporating (gradually) an exfoliating product into your routine.  Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta pads or First Aid Beauty Radiance Pads are good ones.  If you are already exfoliating, whether with a chemical exfoliant, a physical one or manually exfoliating (i.e., Clarisonic), how many times per week do you do so?  If you are doing it more than 2-3x per week, you might want to cut back.

In addition to exfoliating regular, you might also want to consider adding a hydrating serum into your skincare routine.  My personal favorite is the Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 gel - pricey but effective.  Other alternatives are Drunk Elephant Hydra B Intensive Hydration Gel or The Ordinary. Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 serum.  The latter two can be purchased at Sephora.

As for moisturizers, I recommend either Belif Moisture Bomb, or if your skin is very dry, Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream.

If you currently have a moisturizer that you like, then you might consider layering a hydrating sleeping mask on top of your current moisturizer.  Laneige Water Sleeping Mask or Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Masks are two good ones.

Re: Concealer and dry skin

Oh, @Emmanylese, forgot to respond to with concealer recs.  NARS Radiant Cream Concealer is my all-time favorite for discoloration, dark spots and blemishes.  It has a natural finish to it. I wouldn't say it's hydrating, but it's not drying either.

Too Faced Born This Way Concealer is also a good hydrating concealer.  For under eyes, the Sephora Collection concealer is very nice - it has a gel-cream consistency which applies nicely in the under eye area.

I really like the maybelline instant age rewind concealer
