Best Way to Match Correct Foundation Shade

My whole life, I have struggled to find an exact match foundation for my skin tone and skin type, or I am not good at picking a color that best suits me. Tomorrow, I am going to my local Sephora to get matched. Anyone have some tips or tricks to get the perfect match?

RE: Best Way to Match Correct Foundation Shade

Foundations use similar lingo when describing foundation shades. For example, for shade category, I usually fall in the “light-medium” or lighter side of “medium.” For undertones category I am usually “yellow” or “golden.” If you know your typical shade and undertone category you can use these descriptions as reference points when looking up foundations online. I find the shade closest in description and then pick out one shade lighter and one shade darker ( undertone-wise ) AND then go in store and ask for samples. Go home and swatch all three (lightly blended) on the side of my face. Compare and choose or go back to get other samples of other colours.
