Beauty Blenders

I have been using the Real Technique sponge to apply foundation, but I feel like the quality has lessened over the past few months. Iโ€™m wondering if anyone else has noticed a difference and if the switch to a real Beauty Blender is worth it? I also struggle to apply foundation without the streaky look when I use the Pro Foundation Brush. Does anyone have any tips when applying foundation using either a sponge or a brush? Always on the hunt for something new!

Re: Beauty Blenders

I didn't have any luck with the Real Techniques sponges. I always felt like it left patches of foundation and didn't blend well. I'm a huge fan of the original Beauty Blender, I wet it and squeeze out the excess water before applying my foundation.  I've found some good dupes on Amazon too, but I always go back to the original.

I think the RT blenders are just as good as the BB...I've used both and found no real difference. I do prefer a brush application. However, the only brushes that give me the best coverage are the It Cosmetics brushes...I've tried many brands and they are the best brushes. They are also formulated for skincare which could be the difference. I'm not a fan of their makeup but their brushes are the best!

Re: Beauty Blenders

I'm a big fan of the BBPro, but do use the RT sponges from time to time as well. As far as performance, I feel like they are similar for most creams and liquids, although I do feel like the Pro is slightly better at evening out coverage with a heavier consistency cream. Also I find that my RT sponges tend to tear a little more quickly and easily than the BB ones.

Re: Beauty Blenders

I prefer the Beauty Blender over the Real Techniques sponge by a tiny margin, but I feel both do the same job in the end. I think the BB is just a bit softer and bouncier, but not worth the extra money if I can't afford it. Some other people swear by the Beauty Blender so maybe try it out once and see how you feel if you can afford to splurge :).

The only technique I use is wetting the sponge completely, squeezing out the excess water, and then squeezing the sponge in a towel to further get rid of any water so that it's not overly damp before applying my foundation. I don't like to use brushes either since I also get a streaky effect.

Good luck!

Re: Beauty Blenders

I'm definitely going to try out the towel trick! I'm thinking I might splurge and try the real Beauty Blender. If I really don't think it is too big of a difference, I'll just switch back to Real Techniques. Thank you for your advice!!
