BB/CC cream

Could someone explain to me what exactly BB and CC cream is and what are the differences between them? I understand they are a tint but I do not exactly understand what their purpose is and if they are worth trying out 🙂

Beauty Balm (or Blemish Balm) and Color Correcting. I don't really know the difference either, they vary from brand to brand.
