Skincare Routine??

Hello there!

I am new to the skincare game. When I was a teenager and in my young twenties, I was lucky and had very little to no acne. Therefore, I never really needed to learn about the appropriate skincare steps and varying ingredients that work or don't work for my face.

I am currently 26 and have been dealing with bad breakouts on my forehead and chin for about a year and a half. I would say I have sensitive and combo skin. Flaky sometimes, but oily on my forehead. After months of trying different products I have found a pretty good routine which I would say has helped a little. Currently, I have a Cerve gel to foam cleanser, Paula's Choice 2% BHA exfoliator, InKey hyaluronic acid serum, Cerve eye repair cream and Marcelle ultra light moisturizer (and in the mornings, La Roche Posay sunscreen).

Essentially, I am just wondering if this is the right order of skincare? I am looking to add an Inkey niacinamide serum in my routine and I am not sure where in my routine I should add it?

Thank you 🙂

Re: Skincare Routine??

I’m no expert and my skin is different than yours. I understand the frustration though for sure! My skin has changed over the last 3 or 4 yrs, basically after turning 40 it started to change. I used to have normal , a little oily but a really nice olive skin tone and only got the occasional blemish on my chin. Now it’s combination and really sensitive with some hormonal breakouts on my chin. So I’d personally only have to spot treat,it’s being sensitive that’s been hard finding the right routine. I’m pretty sure you can add the niacinamide to your nightly routine. Since I’m no expert or don’t have the same or similar skin concerns if I was you I’d go to YouTube as it has really helped me. The dermatologist over there have great recommendations at different price points. Plus sometimes we can get acne from our hair products especially if it’s on your forehead or anywhere your hair touches, and depending what it looks like it could need a different treatment. We can get different kinds of acne. I like Dr. Dray , Cassandra Bankson , Doctorly , James Welsh ( he’s just a skincare expert which I really love his channel ) and Hyram. You may already know them ,but I’d highly suggest watching them on YouTube vs TikTok. I really hope this helps some and I wish you the best of luck on your skincare journey. I’m going to add a product I did use on my son and used as a Spot treatment myself, it’s a serum you’d put on at night before moisturizer.
