Foundation peeling,dry ,patches and separation

My skin is textured and has some redness with large pores around the T-Zone with a oily T-Zone but the rest of my face is dry and my foundation tends to stick to dry patches. I have tried the elf hydrogrip primer I've even tried the elf putty primer I tried several primers but they never keep my foundation in place and with my foundation I have the Maybelline fit me and then the Maybelline 30 hour wear but by the end of the day my face is shiny and extremely dry and my foundation is separating. I use the CeraVe moisturizer, Paula's choice exfoliating ( not often). What should I do?

Re: Foundation peeling, dry ,patches and separation

@NMmodel  what are you using for skincare prior to using a primer?  From your description it sounds as though your entire face is dry and you’re producing protective oil to keep the moisture it has in.

A toner with bhas followed by a moisturizer with ceramides and hyaluronic acid applied to freshly cleansed skin before your primer can help.  Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow PHA + BHA Pore-Tight Toner  Tatcha The Water Cream Oil-Free Pore Minimizing Refillable Moisturizer

Re: Foundation peeling, dry ,patches and separation

I'm using Paula's choice exfoliating toner, the ordinary niacinamide and zinc and CeraVe moisturizer.

Re: Foundation peeling, dry ,patches and separation

@NMmodel  That sounds like a good combo.  An option to try is to use a drop or two of lightweight face oil to replenish any oils that may be stripped from your skin during cleansing so you avoid overproducing oil. you can do this either prior to applying your makeup or by adding a drop into your foundation.  Argan oil and rose oil are both really nice for oily skin.

Re: Foundation peeling, dry ,patches and separation

I'm still confused why I'm having separation on the side of my nose. By the end of the day I look cakey, oily and flaky with severe creasing and dryness under my eye even after I moisturize. Should I just start using a tinted moisturizer?

Re: Foundation peeling, dry ,patches and separation

@NMmodel , are you letting enough time pass between your products?  Sometimes it helps to let your moisturizer sit for a few minutes before going into primer and foundation.
