Foundation Separating

Hi, I’ve been struggling with finding a foundation that won’t instantly separate on my face. My skin is normal, not too dry or too oily. I’ve tried Maybelline fit me, both dewy and matte, Clinique 2-in-1 beyond perfecting, and currently using Nars. I’ve tried using a beauty blender and a brush, neither have worked for me, it just instantly separates and dries into patches. For the times it does barely stick to my face, I can’t blend out my contour or blush because it’ll just not blend out and remove all the foundation in that area from trying. I’ve also tried different primers, Elf hydrating, Elf putty, and Hourglass Veil. For skincare I just use CeraVe moisturizing cream and La Roche Posay Anthelios sunscreen. I let that soak in for 30 mins prior to applying anything. I’ve also tried makeup without primer and skincare to see if that’ll make a difference but it didn’t. I struggle with concealer too but manage by just lightly blending out with my finger and applying setting powder on top.

I do have rosacea but my dermatologist said that shouldn’t be an issue since my skin texture isn’t too terrible. Could someone suggest something to help me with this really frustrating experience? Thank you!!

Re: Foundation Separating

@pz17  Sounds like it could be an issue with the primers you are using. If you can get your hands on some primer samples, here are two that I love that I recommend you check out:

MILK MAKEUP Hydro Grip Hydrating Makeup Primer with Hyaluronic Acid + Niacinamide 1.52 / 45 mL

Tatcha The Liquid Silk Canvas: Featherweight Protective Primer 1.0 oz / 30 mL

Re: Foundation Separating

Thank you! I’ll definitely check those out.

Re: Foundation Separating

@pz17 @I think you have to change your primer and foundation. Your skin is reacting with the products. I would try a mattifying primer on where you get oily and see if that helps first.

Re: Foundation Separating

Thanks. I’ve already tried 3 different kinds but I’m willing to give it one more shot. Any recommendations?
