Face wash/ moisturizer

Has anyone tried fresh face wash and moisturizer or the first aid Beaty wash and moisturizer?? Can’t decide which set to buy and try out. I have combo skin (obviously lol) with some acne and I’m more dry since it’s winter so I was wanting to try new. I currently use the fab face wash but I use the deep clean one which is a little to drying for winter and I feel like strips my skin a little bit. Sooo which is better? Anyone have experience with them

Re: Face wash/ moisturizer

I have normal to combo skin- oily t-zone, but forehead can sometimes get dry. I tried the FAB and it was too drying for me. Right now, I actually use the Simple moisturizing face wash at the drug store. Doesn't dry me out and is gentle both on my face and my wallet.

As far as moisturizer goes, my holy grail is the Tatcha Water Cream. My skin drinks it up and I don't have to exfoliate as much when I use it. Highly recommend.

Re: Face wash/ moisturizer

@megann01  I have oily skin and still find both FAB and Fresh face washes you mentioned ,drying. If your skin is already drying out, you may need a gentle yet effective cleanser.I would recommend looking into Boscia cleansers.

Re: Face wash/ moisturizer

I currently use the fresh soy cleanser on occasion but am rather underwhelmed with it. I don't ever feel like the product is doing much for my skin -- though I actually kind of like the cucumber smell that everyone seems to hate! I usually take off my makeup with TATCHA - Pure One Step Camellia Oil Cleanser or FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm, both of which feel really great on drier skin in the winter, then follow with either TATCHA - The Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser or the FRESH - Soy Face Cleanser(because I still have some and am trying to use it up).

I don't know which FAB moisturizer you're looking at, but I use FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair BarriAIR Cream and love it. It isn't super heavy, nor is it too light to provide ample moisture in winter. (My combo skin also leans dry this time of year.) I have used the FRESH - Lotus Youth Preserve Moisturizer in the past but felt pretty "eh" about it.

Re: Face wash/ moisturizer

I used to use more Fresh products. But many of them, especially moisturizers, have a lot of fragrance so they are more likely to irritate your skin if you’re sensitive. For that reason alone I prefer the FAB products. My daughter is sensitive and the FAB products work well for her. She uses the face moisturizer in the pump and the hydrating serum, she tried the ultra repair hydrating cream but found it too heavy.

Re: Face wash/ moisturizer

@megann01  Assuming these are the 2 cleansers you’re talking about:

FIRST AID BEAUTY - Pure Skin Face Cleanser - Too drying for my mostly-dry combo skin: it left me with dry patches. It lathers a lot, rinses clean, and has no added fragrance. But get this cleanser in your eyes and you’ll regret it. I mean, many cleansers irritate my eyes, but this stuff is a 3 alarm fire. Eh, maybe my eyes are just too weirdly sensitive.

FRESH - Soy Face Cleanser - Also too drying for me. Plus, my skin doesn’t like something in this one: it caused a bumpy reaction. This cleanser contains both rosewater and rose oil (not rose hip oil, which is far better for my skin); that combo might’ve had something to do with my bad reaction. It has kind of a mucous texture and leaves a residue after rinsing that, sadly, doesn’t hydrate or moisturize my face much. If a gang of cucumbers bullied a rose after school and shoved it in a locker, this cleanser is exactly how that would smell.

If forced to choose between those 2, I’d choose the FAB cleanser and do my best to keep it out of my eyes.

If your skin’s sensitive to coconut, avoid both these cleansers: they both contain coco-glucoside (Fresh Soy contains more of it), and FAB Pure Skin contains hydrogenated coconut acid.

Re: Face wash/ moisturizer

I have also tried both the FRESH - Soy Face Cleanser and the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Pure Skin Face Cleanser and I find them very comparable. I have a lot of other Fresh products so I find that the Soy cleanser works better for me, but I can see how the smell may be too strong for some people. If you know that you like the FAB products then I would give that one a go. It is definitely more hydrating if your skin is dying in this winter dryness.

Re: Face wash/ moisturizer

@megann01 Both brands have multiple cleansers and moisturizers- which ones are you interested in specifically?

For me, I've tried both the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Pure Skin Face Cleanserand the FRESH - Soy Face Cleanserand vastly prefer the FAB one. I feel like it rinses away cleanser and I really can't stand the scent of the Fresh. That said, FAB moisturizers tend to be far too heavy for skin. For the Fresh, it just depends. I do love their Seaberry Oil.

Re: Face wash/ moisturizer

@megann01 I would agree with @quspork on the scent of the FRESH - Soy Face Cleanser--I really don't like how it smells (I come away with a weird cucumber/grass vibe) and I want to try the FRESH - Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oilmyself.  FAB products however, tend to be formulated with sensitive skin types in mind so if that's an issue for you, that's something to consider.

Re: Face wash/ moisturizer

The seaberry oil is really lovely - not too heavy, sinks in well, nicely hydrating, @CookieGirl1. It does have a scent, but I find it very pleasant.
